Braxton hicks? UPDATE at bottom
Can they feel like menstrual cramps? I've been cramping since last night. I just started timing and they're lasting about a min and a half and are every 7, 8 or 9 min. I've been drinking and had 3 bottles of water already today and a glass of cranberry juice. Also I feel like my stomach got a little smaller. I'm 35w2d.

Re: Braxton hicks?
From what most people say, braxton hicks usually feel more like a tightening of the belly. However, I think everyone's experience is different.
I would call your doctor. They may tell you to drink a ton of water and lay down for an hour. If they are still continuing, they may want to see you. Good luck!!

Re: Braxton hicks?
Called the dr. They just called back. Only the np is there. They want me to come in for a sono since the tech is there. Will update when I leave. They seemed concerned.

Good luck. Always better to be safe than sorry. I had no idea I was in labor with my first so I don't take any "symptoms" for granted this time around.

Re: Braxton hicks?
I had a lot last night and they got painful. I'm 31 1/2 weeks. I was having 4-6 per hour for at least 4 hours. I had my normal appointment today and told them about them. Due to the Braxton Hicks, they did an internal exam and my cervix is closed so all is good. They said more than 4/hour before 34 weeks is alarming and you should call. But, I see you are after that point of your pregnancy. What did your OB say?

Re: Braxton hicks?
UPDATE
Hey girls. Well the np did an internal. Hurt like hell. My cervix was very high and about a fingertip dilated. She was kind of acting like I didn't know what I was feeling. Really annoyed me but they set me up to the machine. Turned out I was in fact having contractions every 6 min. She came in and said she already called the hospital and to head straight there. They wanted to try to stop them with an IV of fluids even thought I said I'd been drinking. The hospital got me in fast and on the IV. The whole bag had pretty much gone through and they ended up having to give me a shot because they got to be 2 min apart. They were afraid I would dilate. They can give you this shot up to 3 times. It seemed to work then they were still going. Turned out I got the shot 3 times. They never really did stop but started to not be as strong. My cervix didn't change so the dr felt comfortable sending me home. I have to go in on Friday morning for a check-up. Almost had to spend the night there unexpectedly. Was so not ready for that!!

Re: Braxton hicks? UPDATE at bottom
And now after googling terbutaline which is what they gave me, I'm a nervous wreck. Ugh! I know I'm not full term but part of me feels they should've let nature take it's course. Anyone have experience with this?

Re: Braxton hicks? UPDATE at bottom
I didn't see your original post, but definitely call the OB when something like that is happening. Menstrual like cramps are usually more like labor pains than braxton hicks. I'm happy to hear they checked you out and stopped the contractions!!!
I know nothing about that medicine they gave you though.

I had one DS at 34 weeks and the other at 37--one was in the NICU for a month and the other came home for me, so for me it is always nice to try to keep them in there as long as possible. Hang in there!!!
