How do they test for a UTI?

My DD is 2 and not potty trained, so do I just bring the doctor her morning diaper?

Dd had to get tested twice when she was 2. We had to put the bag in her diaper to "catch" her pee and pour it in a sterile cup.

She refused to pee in it and let loose a Ton when she couldnt hold it any longer.

either a catheder (sp?) is used or a bag is put over their vagina to catch the pee.

When dd was a little over 12 mo, we thought she might have a uti. The dr. wiped her diaper area to sanitize and then attatched a self adhesive clear bag, so that when she peed it would catch in the bag. We put a diaper over it, and I am glad that we had loose sweatpants for her that day, so that we could easily put those on her, too, and she wouldn't be too chilly. We were pretty much just hanging out and waiting for her to pee. It took a little bit, and she actually didn't go until we wandered out of the office and were just sitting in our car and drinking water, then she peed. (maybe bc she was more comfortable not being in there, she doesn't like the doctors office!) We went back into the dr's office and they took off the bag and poured it into a tube to send out to the lab.
I think it would be helpful to bring a sippee cup with water, in case it's taking her a while to go. gl!
