Disney - Polynesian Resort Questions

We'll be going in 5 weeks and there are some things I forgot to ask about.

Do they provide life jackets at the pool?

Should I call and request a crib and/or crib rails before the trip or just do that when I check in?

How long is the monorail ride to the Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom?

Are the parks really that much more crowded on the days that they have the early morning hours. There are some days I can't switch because of dining reservations but I don't want it to be mobbed.

TIA!!!

I don't know about cribs or life jackets but the ride to the grand Floridian is about 4 minutes. The ride to MK is about 8 minutes.

I think that MK is definitely more crowded on morning EMH days but it's not unbearable

Re: Disney - Polynesian Resort Questions

We just stayed at the Polynesian a few months ago. Your going to love it!

I'm not sure about the life jackets at the pool but the marina is right there and I know they have life jackets. They sell swimmies in the store and most kids were wearing those. I don't remember anyone with a life jacket on. The pool is awesome as it is zero entry so DD was able to play in the water without being held so she loved it.

Not sure if its in your budget or not but we rented a cabana for the day and it was the best thing ever. It had a tv, a fridge, lounge chairs and a table and chairs. We hung out there all day. They delivered food and drinks to us and we were in heaven! : ).

Magic Kindgom will be more crowded with the early morning hours but you are going at a moderate time so the crowds shouldn't be too bad at all.

Have fun!

Do they provide life jackets at the pool?

Yes they do provide life jackets. We got them for our girls on our last trip - We got them at the boating shack. I can't remember if DH had to leave or show them his DL - but you can get one for your whole stay if you want. There were plenty of kids with them on both our trips.

Should I call and request a crib and/or crib rails before the trip or just do that when I check in?

How old is your DC? On our 1st trip to the Poly we had connecting rooms. We asked for a pack n play in one room and a crib in the other - so that DD had a place to nap if she was with my parents. This way also we could try both the crib and pack n play out and see what she was more comfortable in. I have pictures of it somewhere - but the crib is a metal small white crib. It was kind of small. The pack and play had a lot more room.

On our second trip - DD#1 slept in the regular bed so we requested bed rails. They put them on the bed for us and they were perfect!

Make sure you make your request early as I understand they do run out of the rails sometimes if there are many requests for them.

How long is the monorail ride to the Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom?

You can walk to the GF if you want to. It is a quick ride to the GF as it is the next stop on the line. The MK was probably 5-10 mins depending on how long you sat in the station.

Remember you can walk to the TTC and hop on the ferry to the MK. Last trip we rolled our stroller right onto the ferry to the TTC while everyone else fought to get onto the monorails. So when you leave if there is a huge crowd running for the monorail consider taking the ferry - as it really is a quick walk from the TTC to the Poly.

We also walk to the TTC from the Poly and hop the EPCOT monorail rather than change monorails at the TTC. Just easier sometimes if it isn't raining.

Yes they can be- but I usually try to hit the EMH morning park anyway because it works for us (we have young kids). But I still like the EMH - most times we can get a chunk of the park down in that 1 hour and the 1st 1-2 hours the park is open past the EMH before it gets really crowded. I find that the crowds get bigger around 11 - but from 8-11 you can get a decent amount done. But it definitely can get more crowded because people will go to the EMH park who don't have hoppers. I try to hit a different park that night if I can plan it in advance. If you have older children and don't plan to take breaks you might want to avoid the EMH morning park (esp if you don't have a hopper pass).

Another take - Will you have Parkhoppers?

If so, the best plan is to go to the park with EMH, enjoy EMH and the first few hours the park is open, and then hop out at the crowded part of the day.

There's a lot of construction going on between the Poly and Grand due to the new Villas being built so I'd scratch the idea of walking between them.
