Breastfeeding and supplementing w formula
My ds is 11 weeks. We started supplementing w formula around 4 weeks because he wasn't gaining weight. He was always a gassy baby but never had a problem taking the formula, in fact he loved it. The past 4-5 days he is refusing to take the formula. We tried different bottles and nipples, warming it more etc. he has been extremely gassy as well. Any thoughts on this? We currently use Gentlease- any other recommendations for formula that may taste/ digest closer to bm. I should add that while I was at work on Monday he downed the bm bottles but drank only 2 oz of the formula bottles ( he normally takes about 4-5 easily). I'm so upset watching him be so upset while taking it and not eating :(

Re: Breastfeeding and supplementing w formula
I usually recommend gentlease as a good supplement formula b/c I find it works best with BF babies - b/c of the partially hydrolyzed proteins and reduced lactose.
However, Enfamil Newborn is technically the closest to BM - b/c of its whey to casein ratio. You can call up the company ( I have a coupon code if you want it) for a free case of the 2oz bottles if you want to give it a try.
Also, sometimes babies just refuse to take formula from a bottle of short periods - just like they occasionally go on nursing strikes.

How do you get a free case?

Re: Breastfeeding and supplementing w formula
I breast feed DS (10 months) and have been supplementing with formula since he was 5 weeks. We have always used the Earth's Best Organic Formula and he has never had a problem.
