BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
My DD will be 4 1/2 & walks great, but I'm sure by the end she will want to sit.
We only have 1 joovy stroller & then a cheap $20 umbrella stroller.
We thought we could hook the cheap one on our joovy for when we need a 2nd stroller.
OR should be try to get an inexpensive double stroller?
We are driving (from NC), so I don't think renting is necessary.
Any suggestions?

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
We've used the Baby Trend Sit n Stand stroller which was great as well as the Disney double stroller. (We got it for FREE) I have to say as much as I LOVED the sit n stand, the Disney strollers are AWESOME. They push and move sooo much easier than any of the one's we've used. I've also brought our Graco full size one as well.

Can you borrow a double stroller from a friend?
Our kids are 1 and 3. We don't often use the double stroller but I bought it specifically for vacations.
We are taking our double city mini to disney next month.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
We went when my girls were 4 and 2.5 (I guess your little one is younger...) and we brought two cheap BRU umbrella strollers. They worked great and folded up simply--especially if you'll be on the busses at all, that's important. Also, I didn't care what happened to them...
ETA: I never even owned a double at any point (except for a Sit and Stand which I hardly used) so I wouldn't have bought one just for a trip.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
Disney is a lot of walking - think 10-15+ miles a day. So you will definitely want that stroller. Also I never see people mention this - but at night and mornings esp at rope drop I like having the strollers for both girls because it gets very crowded and can be crazy. Leaving the park it is wall to wall people and I think having them in the stroller keeps them from getting run over or lost.
I know you said you are driving but have you considered renting a city mini double for the week (they deliver them to your hotel and pick them up at the end of the week)? I only ask because I saw a lot of families with older children with them. It is easier to navigate only one stroller - also if one child wants to walk and the other rides a parent has their hands free to hold their hand. If you have 2 with you then both parents will be busy with the strollers.
Have you tried craigs list for maybe a double maclaren? That would be another good option. I don't know how easy it is for one parent to push the strollers if you lash them together. If you keep them separate you then have to hunt down 2 strollers in the sea of 50-100+ at the stroller parking areas. Finding one is a pain finding 2 would be time consuming and a pain as well. Even if you park them together Cast Members move them around so they often are not where you left them (so whatever you bring make sure to decorate it with some bring string or something to find it quickly in the sea of strollers).

We rented the citi mini double but we also flew and it was the best investment of the trip! I toyed with the idea of only taking one stroller(my girls were 9mths and 4yrs at the time) and carrying the baby when the older one wanted to sit. Thank goodness I didn't do that because after the first hour she practically sat in it between every destination! It was hot and we did a lot of walking. My youngest napped comfortably in it and it is a very easy double stroller to maneuver. Storage is not the greatest but I brought a mesh beg to put over the handles that helped with little odds and ends.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
I'll look into the rentals. Might make more room too for driving down. I too don't want to buy something for a trip & don't have anyone to borrow from.
The crowds is my reason for wanting a stroller for both. My oldest is AWESOME & whenever we are out, holds the stroller as we walk...but sometimes you need speed & a retreat when they get pooped!
I don't think we will be doing much buses cause we are staying at the Polynesian.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
Get one! rent, buy borrow....whatever you need...you'll be happy you did! : )
The first time I rented in the park (boys wre 3 and 1) and it was ok - but I found they'd fall asleep on buses on way home form parks and then we'd be carry them from buses to hotels and it was hard! The next year, we went and bought a Maclaren beforehand and it was so worth the investment! We've used it for 2 disney trips and serveral others trips since. Will be using it for disney this year and my son is 4.5 and daughter will be 14mos. Funny part is I am worried about my 7 year old needing something - haha - he is lazy when it comes to that and it is a lot of walking - we go from early morning to late night!

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
We have always done our Fombi and then a ceap umbrella stroller. We did just what you said and hooked the umbrella stroller to the other one. It worked out perfect for us. Now DS 1 is too big for either so he's going to have to walk this year.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
When we went, I brought my Graco Metrolite and my Mclaren umbrella. We just pushed both around. It mostly just had stuff in it.

The city mini is perfect! Easy to fold when you have to - you won't be doing many buses and we never had trouble with it on the ferry or the monorails. Very easy, storage space, good recline if someone falls asleep and great sunshade for some relief on a hot day. Also it is easy for the girls to climb in and out of on their own.

We bought the cheapest double umbrella stroller we could find. It was fine. I wanted something light.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
We just went to Disney last month with my 5yo and almost 2yo, and we brought our Sit and Stand. There was so much walking, and we were in the park almost all day, so my 5yo was almost always sitting in the stroller. I would definitely bring/rent a double stroller.

Re: BTDTM of 2....disney stroller question
We went last month with our 6 month old and 4 year old and rented from Orlando Stroller Rentals. It was the BEST money we spent the entire trip!! It's so much walking, waiting, running from here to there, that my 4 year old (who gave up naps a year ago) would pass out cold in it at least once a day. They delivered it right to our hotel and then all I had to do was drop it at the front desk when we were checking out.
