Recommended Cough Medicine
Can someone please recommend me a good cough medicine. I've been coughing for days and now I feel like I'm going to barf...

I feel like all the OTC stuff is the same shit.
I do like the Robitussin Gel Caps because you don't have to taste the nastiness- just swallow 2 pills.
But if you are coughing that bad, nothing really helps other than a presciption.

I used OTC syrups like crazy when I was coughing. After seeing my doctor, they asked me to try the pill form of Mucinex and that helped by breaking up the mucus.
However, when the coughing would not go away, they advised me to see an allergist and low and behold, that's what was causing my coughing and I have meds to control the cough.
This spring will be the worst they say for allergies because we had a dead winter and everything is blooming early and thus for longer.

Mucinex DM is great.
Also, if your cough is post-nasal, Patanase (nose spray) helps me tremendously.

If swear by Delsym to quiet my cough.
It's a suppressant, nothing else in it.
I usually get the dry kind of cough that tickles the throat because of allergies and post nasal drip.
If I have coughing due to congestion, then I take Mucinex to break up the congestion.
