Flying with 16 mth old...
We're going on vaca next week. I was wondering if anyone traveled with a 16 mth old on plane, what did you give them when taking off, besides milk, so their lil ears wont pop or starts to hurt? And what did you use to entertain them? Thanks in advance!

Re: Flying with 16 mth old...
My DD was 14 months when I traveled. I had gone to the ENT (she has ear issues) right before and asked that question. He told me to give her a spray of nasal spray in each nostril an hour before takeoff. She didn't have any issues with the flight at all.

Really that works! I have the saline drops, maybe I'll try that. Thanks!

People seem big on giving kids benadryl before flying. I don't know how much and I never tried it personally but it supposedly works wonders. Knocks them out!

Re: Flying with 16 mth old...
My DD was 14 months and we were stressing taking off/landing so much. We had her sippy ready with water, teethers, snacks all ready to go....and she didn't use any of it and was 100% fine. Didn't seem to even notice anything. During the flight we did have snacks, books and a portable DVD player with Elmo for distraction. I was so worried about the flight (since sometimes she is a big whiner in public places or when confined to her seat for an extended period of time) but she was actually really great! Good luck!

be careful of this. Benadryl makes my DS hyper. It has the reverse effect on some kids.

How long is the flight?
I had a ton of snacks and little distractions for the plane.

We took my DD to Turks and Caicos when she was 15 months. We had her sippy cup and a pacifier for taking off and landing. We were lucky..... Neither one seemed to bother her!

Re: Flying with 16 mth old...
We took our 13 month old on a plane to FL and we had a sippy cup, snacks, and lollipops for him. He was perfect. Didn't really need any distractions because he fell asleep the whole ride there and back!
