Humor me even though I know the answer...

I am crashing to ask a question I know the answer to, but I think I need to hear it from people who have been there. I hope no one is offended by this, like I said I know the answer I just need to hear it.

I start my first IVF cycle next week. I've been reading all the BFP over on the TTC board (so happy for them) and it got me thinking that I might be missing out on something. Like... it's such a surprising and happy moment when you realized that what you have been trying to do has finally worked.

It is any less exciting/surprising/wonderful/memorable to see a BPF after IVF. Do you still have your moment? What was yours like - if you don't mind sharing.

Personally, I think it was MORE amazing then a typical surprise. It wasn't an IVF cycle but our BFP came after 4.5 long years of nothing, zilch, nada. So we were VERY surprised. The first day (Sat) I didn't believe it, thought it was an evap line and went to the Mets game and a had a few drinks, lol. The next day, it was more real, and I cried a bit but mostly walked around in circles asking DH if this could really be it, after all this time. It was surreal to say the least but so so exciting.

Re: Humor me even though I know the answer...

this is my 4th pregnancy, first through ivf

hearing the positive beta, poas a seeing it was amazing..more amazing than i thought...

being overcome with joy does not describe it...i literally feel to my knees

why did i get so emotional..maybe it was all the hormones??Chat Icon ...i was just happy..happy bc we had been through so much and we did this, spent all this money, time, tears, meds, shots and it was all worth it..all worth that double pink line

i will never ever forget that moment

only thing better is when i heard the heartbeats..when i found out there was 2..

every appt gets better and better

any bfp is amazing,no matter how u got it and whoever gets it should be grateful if it took 1 month or 10 years bc there is always someone who is still waiting for theirs

someone once said to be oh no u cannot find out the sex it is the greatest feeling in the world...and i said maybe for you but we already had that moment

Re: Humor me even though I know the answer...

.. should preface by saying I am not currently pregnant... but all of my pregnancies have been from fertility treatments (done them all .. IUI.. IVF.. FET... had pregnancies from each) .. and they were ALL the most AMAZING moments of my life.

Even with IVF, a positive is not a given. Any pregnancy is a miracle. There are people who have multiple failed IVFs... People like myself who have multiple pregnancies and losses....

We'll be doing a transfer with my surrogate who we believe is VERY fertile... but you better believe that if that moment does happen and I get the call that she's pregnant, it will be be just beyond words INCREDIBLE. I don't think infertility takes away from the excitement AT ALL .. If anything, it only increases it.

It is the most anxious, heart-racing, exciting surprise you'll ever get! I was beyond emotional.... The infertility board was supportive and very close-knit, and always cheering you on, so it was a huge huge announcement when you finally realize you're pregnant!

BFN after BFN kills your spirit. The BFP was beyond words!

ITA - I've had 3 BFPs (One ended in a MC, one ended with a beatuful baby girl...and the jury's still out on this current one!). One occured without fertility treatments, and the other two with; each were equally amazing. Besides the actualy birth of my daughter - best moments ever!

Good Luck!

This was my only BFP through first IVF so I had never seen a BFP before. Initially we were excited and happy it worked, but then fear quickly set in and we didn't want to get too excited until we knew it would stick.

It is definitely not any less exciting/surprising/wonderful/memorable to see a BFP after IVF...this was my first BFP and i cant describe the feeling l felt knowing that it could finally happen for me!

i think the main difference between someone who has gone through IF and someone who hasnt is that i think we over analyze and are nervous for a much longer time after we find out about our BFP.

I think just knowing what can happen and about chemicals and mc and all just takes the fun out of it. People who TTC naturally might get all excited and not know the downside and risks because they arent enthralled with IF issues.

It was so much more nerve wracking and exciting than a non-ivf cycle. When you have that much time, energy, money, invested in something working, I think the anticipation of it is much more than just "winging" it.
I dont mean to say that a non IVF'er doesn't have that experience because it is magical nonetheless. But I had a BFP on a natural cycle (winging it for only 2 months) and I also had a BFP after 2.5 years of trying naturally, 4 failed IUIs and one successful IVF.. I will never forget how weak my knees where when I saw that stick say "pregnant"
You're not missing out on anything by going the IVF route.
Wishing you so much luck!
