prenatal massage

Has anyone been for a prenatal massage? Any place you'd recommend in Nassau or Queens? My shoulders and back are killing me and I was thinking about treating myself to a massage for Mothers day Chat Icon

Re: prenatal massage

I don't know how far along you are but you should not have a massage in your first trimester as there is a risk for loosing the pregnancy.

Re: prenatal massage

hey babeChat Icon so I went to Body Mind Spa in Whitestone when i was pregnant because I had a gift card before the pregnancy and needed to use it before it expired.....so it wasn't for a prenatal massage per se but they adjusted the massage accordingly because i was pregnant.....I had been there prior to that time when pregnant and I actually have two gift cards that i have to use.....the place isn't huge.....but it's nice and clean and the people are really nice....take a look at their website

Thanks chica!! Chat Icon Yea I really just need my back rubbed (Mike SUCKS at massages his hands are like two gorillas on me, oh and rough hands to boot, yea um no thanks lol).....so I don't even have to do a full body massage, maybe I can do a modified one at a regular place if they just do my back.

I've been to a place in Oceanside before, Frenasia, they were pretty good, maybe I should find out if they do prenatal massage.

eta: btw, how far along were you when you had the massage?

Jen I just checked the Mind Body website, and they have a mommy to be special package, YAY! It's $155 for a facial, 60 minute massage and pedicure. I've never had a facial and you know my face can get blotchy....do you think I should avoid having one since I don't know how I'd react?

The prenatal massage by itself is $95, so maybe I should just do that (although a spa day does sound nice!)

i've gotten the facial there and I get super red on the cheeks....it did give me a little redness but nothing bad at all and I have to admit my skin has never looked better a day after....but you could separate the things on your package if you wanted so for instance do everything else and leave the facial for another time if you want ya know?

Re: prenatal massage

I've had 2 prenatal massages at Kashmir hands in Franklin square. The girl there is awesome and such a great masseuse. They're having a mothers day special right now for $65, you have to buy yourself a gift certificate to get that price.

Just FYI- I was talking to my chiropractor about this today & he said to have the massage therapist avoid your ankles b/c there are certain spots that can cause premature labor.

They may naturally avoid this anyhow- don't know, I've never had one. But just something to be aware of.

oasis in the city is awesome. They have the special tables with a hole cut out for your belly. I like the location at one park avenue. One of my favorite places ever!

i had one at nordstroms with my last pregnancy and honestly i didn't enjoy it at all. They had alittle hole cut out for our stomach, but it still felt like a lot of pressure on my stomach and i just wasn't comfortable.
