Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
If you had the choice between a home located in N. Massapequa with Plainedge Schools or a home in Wantagh (Woods Section) which would you choose? Both homes are priced the same, (500K /taxes 12) BUT the home in Mass is totally redone while the home in Wantagh needs a new kitchen and some additional work.
Any feed back on either town would be helpful too!

i live in N. Mass/Plainedge schools and I would choose Wantagh. Both are GREAT but Wantagh is better
Yes, the instant gratification of a nicer kitchen is hard to pass up but that can he changed.

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
When we were looking we looked in Seaford, Wantagh and Plainegde schools. We both would have been happy with any of them... we just looked for the right house to pop up in one of them!
We ended up in Plainedge.

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
I don't think you can go wrong with either - Plainedge is a VERY small district - which some think is good, and some think is bad - Depends.
I went to Plainedge. - and many of 'us' don't leave.....so I'd personally choose the Wantagh house.

Hi, I am a licensed Realtor and can not comment on school districts. There are plenty of public school reports online. Keep in mind after you review the school report its not all about the school ratings. Its about the parents helping the child succeed. Education begins in the home, and your child’s success will have a lot to do with the groundwork you layout and participation. Good luck in the new home that you choose.

I think your kids will get an excellent education in either school district.
Check all stats for the towns, crime, taxes, community parks, shopping nearby..etc..

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
I defin see the house your looking at in N Mass. Its completely redone and really nice looks like its next to the school which can be good because its a dead end street. but can get loud and noisy for school events, football games etc but its kinda near the tennis courts.
The houses i saw in wantagh woods for 500k were not in good shape they all look like they are going to need some major work.
I live in the area a few blocks south, and i do like my area but wantagh is a really nice area too.
You have to weigh the pro's and cons of a brand new house with no work or wantagh and having to do work

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
I'm not much of an expert on Plainedge.I didn't look into the area much when shopping.
However, I have lived in Wantagh for 7 years and grew up in bellmore. And have bought and sold in wantagh.
I would say that Wantagh has a great reputation for schools, and as a community.
I found Wantagh woods to be very nice in a lot of cases,
you have to be careful, some of the streets are real cut throughs and busy.
If you're looking in wantagh hte area we're in, which is slightly cheaper than the woods, but still very nice is Forest Lake section, just on the other side of Wantagh Parkway.

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
Wantagh resident here. We are more than happy with the SD. DS has had excellent teachers so far. Wantagh is a close community with lots of activities for children. I don't think there is a sport you wont find, active scout programs, involved PTA's. Its a community that pulls together.
I don't know anything about Plainedge so I cant comment.

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
A couple of DH cousins live in N Mass, they really like it, I am not sure if they are Plainedge or Mass schools though.
Just weight the pros and cons of each house, new is huge with us for our next house, it's a ***** remodeling everything, I want turn key next time.

I lived in N. Mass for a while (my nephews attended Plainedge schools for a little) and I have friends in Wantagh. I'd pick Wantagh.

Re: Wantagh or Plainedge Schools?
I graduated from Plainedge and I have a good friend who is a teacher there now. It is an excellent school district and a nice size too. I liked that I knew everyone I graduated with, my class was only 235. You can't go wrong with either district but being an alum of PHS.........My vote is for Plainedge.

plainedge is good the problem is they are small .
i see that a lot of people comment on how small plainedge is and maybe i don't see it because I went to Seaford and graduated with 170 BUT wantagh isnt much bigger than Plainedge if not comparable!
My husband graduated from Wantagh in 2000 and he has 225 in his class - same as Plainedge
