Re: How do you find a doctor/hospital?
Hospitals: word of mouth recommendations, general research on the NICUs available, and NYS Dept of Health statistics. I have a sister in medicine and she did her rotations on LI hospitals, so I relied on her insider info as well.
Practitioner: I did a lot of reading before I got pg, so I knew the kind of person I was looking for. Recommendations from family and LIF were also helpful. I also semi-interviewed my midwife when I went to her for a pre-pg yearly checkup.

I agree with the post above-asking friends where they go. Usually that's how I've found my doctors.

If you already have a primary dr call the office and ask what ob's they recommend. Then your ob can recommend a pediatrician. Thats how I found all my drs and I love them all.

Re: How do you find a doctor/hospital?
First from recommendations
if not from recommendations then go to your insurance website and find a Doc in your area that's easy to travel to
Get the list and google their name to read reviews. Lots of stars and close to home (or office depending) then I call to make an appt hoping the person on the phone is really nice... that's how I usually judge the staff as well

Re: How do you find a doctor/hospital?
word of mouth, etc. I switched my OB at 28 weeks and was so happy I did. I also used a pediatrician for 2 years and just wasn't pleased with him. I switched to Dr. Rubin and I only regret that I didn't do it sooner!
