Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I thought I would put a registry together. I know I'm not having a shower/sprinkle. I wanted to have an online list of what I thought I needed. If someone wanted to buy me a present, I wanted to have a registry so they had options. And since we're buying the bulk of the stuff ourselves, I wanted the completion coupon. But I just spoke to two other people that were horrified that I was planning a registry.
Is this a bad idea?

I made up a registry & I'm preg with my second child of the same gender. I was like you, I just wanted a complete list in one place of odds & ends that I will need to buy for us.

I don't think so. Why would someone be horrified by you starting a registry? You should have a registry. Most stores give you a discount when you register with them and if someone wants to buy you a gift here's a list of exactly what you need! I'm having a second and will definitely be registering. Anyone horrified by it shouldn't look

ditto but i used a fake name lol. i didnt want people to think i was expecting gifts. the list was just for me to keep track of what i needed.
eta: and i bumped up my due date by a month on the registry so i got the completion coupon early.

Don't ask me. I plan to do the same thing as you. People that judgmental that they're going to be "horrified" at my doing so can go away. I don't have time for their crap, chasing around 2 under 2. And it certainly doesn't sound like they're the helpful, thoughtful types.
Tell them you changed your mind and aren't doing a registry, then when/if they check and see one say "No clue how that got there!"
Sorry I'm no help.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I did not have a shower for DS, but made a registry. I actually had someone tell me if I don't have at least a BBQ that they were not going to get me a present for the baby. I didn't tell anyone about the registry it was more for me to get the coupon than anything else. We bought everything we needed, and whatever people brought when they came to see DS was up to them.
People are so rude sometimes.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I have a registry for #2. My mom is the only one who knows. I know I'm definitely not having a sprinkle, my DCs will only be 2.5 years apart. I just have a few things on Target.com like bottles and nipples, infant medicine, crib sheets, PNP sheets, bibs, etc. I'm not getting anything big, I already have the exersaucer, jumper, bouncer, highchair, etc that is all gender neutral.

I didn't have a shower with my first DC, but I made a registry anyway, to keep myself organized. I will probably do the same this time around.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I'm on #2 and made up a Wish List that is public if somebody wanted to look me up. I am not having a shower (I refused one) and will be buying the majority of the items myself.
If you're going to register or make up a Wish List, do so at Target who has much better prices than BRU (I'm talking about $10-$20 cheaper!). The completion coupons at BRU are pathetic.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
No there is nothing wrong with having a registry and negative opinions should be kept to themselves. Secondly there is nothing wrong with a shower or sprinkle if your family and friends want to celebrate your new addition so be it each child deserves a celebration. I had a 2nd shower even though my kids will be 2 years apart due to the fact that my 2nd wasn't planned and I was generous and gave alot away. Just keep doing what you are doing and anyone who has something negative to say tell them to keep it to themselves.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I am pregnant with #2 and I started a registry. I will not be having a sprinkle or anything. I needed a place to keep track of what we wanted and then the completion coupon was a nice perk. Also, my inlaws are OOS and wanted to get us some things we specifically wanted and this was the easy way for them to know exactly what to get. We are not telling people there is a registry.

I am on baby #2 and I also set up a registry. I didnt even tell anyone. I wanted things on one list organized and since we were going to purchase whatever we needed ourselves. I wanted the completion coupon as well. I see nothing wrong with it. I was not expecting and did not have a shower or a sprinkle

I made one and my girls are only 21 months apart. I used it for myself and my mom used it to buy stuff. I see nothing wrong with it!

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
When I was pg with DD (my second) I made a registry to organize what I needed. I did not really tell people that I made it, but my DHs aunt found it and got us the double stroller. I really used it to get the completion coupon. Oh I agree with making your due date early so you can get the coupon and pick up the items you need. FWIW my friends threw me a small sprinkle - but when asked I requested clothing since my first is a boy.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I made a registry for this baby (#2).
I am having a shower/sprinke since DD is going to be 6 when the baby gets here.
I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I would love to be able to pick off a registry for a friend (if there wasn't a shower). I'd rather get them something they need.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I don't think there is anything wrong with it, especially to get the completion coupon I think I'm gonna tell my sister who is on #2 to do the same thing. I think when people have a second shower that could be a little weird, unless their previous baby was born a long time ago. I say go for it! The people who think its weird don't have to buy you anything off the registry.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
i started a registry for my second, but we weren't having a shower/sprinkle, and I never told anyone about it. I used it more as a list for myself, and to get the coupon at the end. I liked having it, but it really was just for me.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I did an online registry to remind myself of what I needed and to get the completion coupon. If someone asked, I'd tell them I have a small registry up, but otherwise, I'm not advertising it. It's more for me than anything else.

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I am pregnant with my second girl and I have a registry and (shocker!!) also have a shower!! Some people look at me like I am crazy, but my first DD is 4.5 years old - most of her stuff is old, gross, or I already got rid of it! Anyways, just give me a reason, and I'll have a party! So this seemed like reason enough to me!

Re: Moms on pregnancy #2,3,4 - registry?
I have always done a registry and I've only had 1 shower, but I would do it to make that shopping trip easier. I would start it online and when dh and I are ready we would just buy the stuff off the registry. DH hates Babiesrus so he needed to know what exactly we are getting.
