Re: formula covered under insurance
Have your pedi fax a letter to the insurance company stating that it is medically necessary that your baby needs it. They may fight it at first but keep doing it.

Re: formula covered under insurance
Call your insurance company, explain the situation & ask what your ped. needs to do to see if it is covered. S/he'll probably have to fax a form, and that's it. Such a godsend! Hope it works for you!

Re: formula covered under insurance
Dont give up if the person you first speak with says it's not covered. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what dept it's under and sometimes it depends on who answers the phone! This happened to me and a few other people I know. Ours is covered under medical supplies, not prescription privileges like I first thought.
Good luck

Re: formula covered under insurance
my baby is on alimentum and is covered by Blue cross blue shield. Below are the steps I took:
1.Call your insurance to confirm it is covered 2. Have your pads write a letter stating that it is medically necessary for the baby to thrive and have them write a prescription stating "Alimentum Ready to Feed" and the ounces the baby drinks a day. 3. Fax both the letter and the prescription along with a copy of your insurance copy to Apria (this is the place we use) 4. Apria will call your insurance company to verify it is covered and then they will call you back to give you an update. 5. If the formula is covered under your insurance you will have the formula mailed to your house.

Re: formula covered under insurance
My Daughter is also on Alimentium. My Pediatrican took care of it for me. They wrote a script, and called my insurance (Aetna). The insurance company approved within 2 days and each month I pick up the boxes at CVS.
