Please come in if your infant had/has reflux
Was anyone on the fence about medication?
My older DS had bad silent reflux, medication helped so much. This little guy has reflux, but not as bad, he does do a lot better if I hold him up basically the whole time he is awake. He is chronically congested, spits up and is fussy but doesn't scream like my older guy. My ped has said she will try meds but since he is gaining well she is not pushing for it, basically it is up to me. WWYD?

Personally I would try the meds. If they clear him up great, if not you can discontinue use.

Re: Please come in if your infant had/has reflux
My son has been on zantac for about a month now and he is doing great on it. He doesn't really like the taste of it, but it has been helping and he's not as fussy as he used to be. I would definitely try the meds to see if it works and if you see an improvement in your DS. GL!

I am also torn....my DS is gaining weight but definitely fussy, spits a little, does do the cough occasionally. doc said he might have a little reflux but wasn't concerned....she said she is not so keen on prescribing zantac but if we wanted we could give him some adult mylanta. Does the reflux get better as the months pass?

Once my DS was put on meds, he was a different baby! It was a life saver for all of us.
The good thing though about our situation was DS was only on meds until he was about 4 months old and then he seemed to grow out of it.

Re: Please come in if your infant had/has reflux
My 1st DS had reflux and would spit up from 1 bottle until the next. But he was always smiling, never fussy, it didnt bother him at all, so we never even thought of medicating.
DS2 was crabby. He would scream at night (only at night) but would be fussy the rest of the day. We did medicate and it was the best thing for him. He was so happy after. We started around 3m and took him off at 9m and he was fine. he is still the happiest baby I have ever met so I am glad that we did medicate otherwise we wouldnt have seen his true personality before hand.

Honestly it can go either way. We weaned DS from zantac at 9m and he was fine. I have a friend who tried numerous times to wean unsuccessfully and I think her DS was on meds until 15m.
Generally reflux will get better when they start spending most of their days sitting upright.
