2 nights in Mystic at 36.5 weeks? Is that crazy? -UPDATED

Ugh I'm losing my mind and need a little getaway..would it be nuts to stay over in Connecticut/ Mystic on Monday and Tuesday? DH is a cop so he can deliver our DS ( totally kidding!) or should I ask my DR like I'm supossed to...I just don't want them to say noChat Icon

UPDATE: the office called me back and said I can go! Stay hydrated and stretch at a rest stop... She said at least it's an area with a hospital if something were to go on. She said they have patients that travel from CT too... So I will consider this the last mini-getaway as a FREE WOMAN! Chat Icon

I would ask your dr. He may say it's fine if there are no signs of labor. Can you go somewhere closer?

I wasn't allowed to be more than 2 hours from my hospital after 36 weeks and was also told that a long car ride could induce labor. (I was due with #1 just two weeks after Christmas.) My ILs live 1.5 hours away and my OB said I could only go if I was ok with the possibility of delivering out there (at that point I was 38 w, 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced). I wasn't, so we didn't go. I ended up not going into labor until two days before my due date, but I'm still glad we made the decision to stay home. I had lots and lots of contractions during that time even though none of it was labor and I think I would've been to anxious about it.

You do what you're comfortable with. It always comes down to that, unless there's a significant medical reason you're told to do something specific.

Ask the doctor first and if you feel good about it then go for it. A little escape before the storm is always good.

ask the doctor if he is ok with you going away. if he says yes, then go. have you ever been to Mystic? there isn't a whole ton of stuff to do there, so its not like you would be walking a lot or anything

Okay l'll call the dr Chat Icon yeah we don't plan on doing too much... Usually lounge around, pool, out to eat, walk a little at the shops and possibly aquarium.... I'm still very mobile and just had an internal 2 days ago with absolutely no action happening yet... Thanks for your input! I appreciate it

I'd go....as long as your feeling up to it. Its not that far away, maybe just see where the closest hospital is in CT, just incase you need to know.

I'd run it by your doctor and go if you feel up to it. From what I remember I don't think I would have been up to a trip at that point in my pg with DD but I was also on modified bedrest, so that might have a bit to do with it.

I'd go .......it's not that far !!

I don't get the Dr(s) that tell you that you 'can't' go here or there after 36 weeks. -

I commuted into the city up until 39 weeks w/ both of my kids .....it's a 1.5 hour commute each way.

If you are comfortable going....then go and have a good time !!!
