How far in advance do I need to book NB shoot?
How many months before do you need to book the newborn shoot?

i was wondering the same thing myself! I'd love to do one but not sure how far in advance i have to book and how old technically the baby should be when we schedule

I'd start calling to find availability. I would say you should book by 20 weeks. Most shoots happen in the first week the baby is home.

It is recommended/suggested newborn shoots take place within the first 10 days.
Our princess will be 12 days old when we do ours. I am having a scheduled c/section so I am able to schedule an actual date now.
I would suggest contacting the photographer you want to use ASAP- they book up quick and I know a couple are on maternity or will be in the near future.

How far in advance do I need to book NB shoot?
I just booked mine today and I am 16 weeks. I started contacted the ones I was interested in when I was about 14 weeks. They all said they are typically done between 10-12 days old.

I took forever to book it. i do know that ann hack is pregnant, not sure when she is due. I want to say i booked at about 30 weeks. worked out for me..Just call once you deliver to set up an appt...

I literally just booked today, and I'm almost 35 weeks. Definitely not the norm, but I couldn't decide. It was a shot in the dark but it all worked out

it cant hurt to start looking now
and yes like girls above said it should be within in first 1-2 weeks baby is home, that is when you get the best shots because the babies sleep a lot and are posed easier
i highly rec leslie simmons btw, she did my gfs shoot and the pics are aaaaamazing!

I booked at 12 weeks. I wanted to pay by installments since they're so expensive. By the time my shoot comes, it will be paid off.

For those who booked around 12 weeks, how can you schedule a date so far in advance. What if you give birth early or late? How can you pinpoint when the baby will be 10-12 days old just based on your estimated due date?

It depends on who you want to use. some book up very quickly or only take on a certain # of sessions per month. People contact anywhere from when they just POAS to 20 weeks or later. It all comes down to availability. I'd contact some and check and book as soon as you know who you want to use.

You don't schedule an actual date. The photographer puts your due date on their calendar so they know they will have a session around that date. It could be a few weeks before or after if you go late, so it's just a general date. As you get further along and have a scheduled cs or induction you can book an actual date. Otherwise you just call them as soon as your baby arrives to set it up.

I booked this week (I'm 2 days shy of 11 weeks). I knew right away who I wanted to do the pictures, so I figured there was no sense in waiting. Anyway, it gives me more time to pay it off!

I believe they can run anywhere from $300 to $1000.
