Re: Can anyone recommend a good biography for book club?
Looking back at my book logs for this year and last...
Your Voice in my Head by Emma Forrest. It's a memoir, she's a screenwriter with some mental health issues. Was interesting, she dated Colin Ferrel, he's supposed to be Gypsy Husband in the book. Being made into a movie, Emma Watson (Hermionie from Harry Potter) is playing the author.
Fairy Tale Interrupted by RoseMarie Terenzio. About JFK Jr & his wife Carolyn. The author was JFK Jr's assistant. Was ok, but I felt like she was forcing the "close relationship" she described.
An Idiot Abroad by Karl Pilkington. The travel diary to go along with the show, hilarious.
Ali in Wonderland by Wli Wentworh. She's married to George Stephanopoulos, her memoir was pretty funny.
Let's Pretend this Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. A memoir by the woman who writes The Bloggess. Hilarious.
Most Talkative by Andy Cohen. Hilarious.
From this Moment on by Shania Twain.
The Obamas by Jodi Kantor. Was interesting.
The Lions of Kandahar by Rusty Bradley. He led a special forces team in Afghanistan in 2006.
The Triple Agent by Jody Warrick. The story behind how the al-queda mole was able to kill 7 CIA operatives within an American base in Afghanistan
Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin by Frank Bailey. Was amazing to see how naive she was.
My dd was reading a lot of Laura Ingalls Wilder books and then I read a few about/inspired by her:
The Wilder Life by Wendy McClure. She retraces the path taken by the Ingalls family through the book series and tries to live more like a pioneer (even churned her own butter). She was pretty funny.
My Life as Laura by Kelly Kathleen Ferguson. She put on a prairie dress & followed the path the Ingalls family traveled. Was interesting to see her self-discovery along the way.
Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Writers Life by Pamela Smith Hill. Really well researched & written biography.
