I delivered with the same doctors and hospital. They did not push anything on me, I am certain that so long as there is no medical reason you should not have an unmedicated, natural, vaginal birth it will happen. I was very happy with bot the doctors and hospital.
Really glad to hear that because I might just stay with them... I'm still checking to see if Gaia/NUMC will take me on for midwifery care....
I really so appreciate all the input - this really is SOOOO very helpful.
I hope to give you all an update reeeeeeally soon!

Re: Advice Please: North Shore Manhasset Deliveries
Not to be the downer here, but in my experience, my friends who have gone into labor with a "plan" never had their plan go according to plan.
One friend was sure she wanted a natural birth and skipped the epi, only to end up with a c section later because her baby was posterior and she simply had no energy to push him out after all that pain.
One friend wanted a natural birth but had an emergency complication with cord prolapse and placental abruption that she didn't even know was happening and she needed a seriously emergency c section.
I have more stories, but won't go into all of them. Just my one friend that claimed she couldn't stand pain and planned to have an epi, her kid was born too fast for her to even get the epi (lucky her).
I'm just saying, the more of a plan you have, the more potential for disappointment. And even if you do go with a doula or midwife, you may need intervention anyway for safety.
Don't mean to be negative, I'm just trying to be realistic.

This!!!! I think you need to be flexible. And by that I don;t mean let anyone talk you into drugs etc.
I picked my OB because he was looking out for the best for me and my baby. He was willing to do whatever I wanted unless there were changes and then he would discuss it with me.
I had a very open mind and said however we have this baby is good with me as long as we are both safe. And he did just that. At 37 weeks my water broke and I had to be drug free for a certain amoutn of time no matter what since I was on blood thinners. He lef tme try to have the baby vaginally as long as possible until he was no longer comfortable with the babies heart rate...and even then he gave me 15 mins to see if I could get him out. I ended up with a section but only because thats what was best for us.
Its great to have a plan but also be flexible cause things can change in a minute.
