ANTS ... STILL
i cannot take it anymore. we had terminex out about 1.5 months ago and after a few days, no ants. they were bad beforehand, in the kitchen, bathrooms mostly.
fast forward to a few days ago, more ants! we called terminex and they came back yesterday to treat again but now they are INSIDE kitchen cabs
is there anything else that I can do? we just applied the raid gel inside the cabinets (emptied them out obviously) and the ants swarmed to the gel so I am hopeful it will work.
Only one of the 4 cabs had food in it and we keep them clean so I don't get it

Re: ANTS ... STILL
Did you ever try the ant traps? They take about a week to work but they always work for me.

Re: ANTS ... STILL
Ask if they can do a "wash" on the outside of your house. Also make sure all bushes, trees, and plants are cut away from the house.
A wash is the only thing that worked for me.

Re: ANTS ... STILL
thanks. we did have a ton of traps but tossed them once we had the first terminex treatment. I guess we should get more.

No if you treated around the house it probably wasn't a wash. I swear my new house was infested and I didn't see it over the winter. I almost died and the wash was the only thing that made the difference but we still have them come and do the outside every few weeks.

ANTS ... STILL
We bought Raid Botanical Ant kitchen spray at home depot, it is in a blue can and we sprayed one time and I swear all of the ants disappeared. We sprayed almost 2 months ago.

ANTS ... STILL
I HATE SUGAR ANTS !!! we were fine until we went away 2 weeks ago. When we came home, they were EVERYWHERE!! I cleaned out my cabinets (discusting!!!) and wiped them down with white vinegar. It stunk, but I haven't seen any in the cabinets. I also cleaned my counter with Clorox clean up (with gloves on, my windows open and ceiling fan on high because I am pregnant) I have the white raid ant traps all over my kitchen, and hopefully they will stay away !!
I had one set back the other night when we had company over. They brought dunkin donuts for dessert. We ate dessert and put the box on the counter with a couple leftovers in it. The nasty little buggers found it. I re-sprayed the counter with clean up as soon as I threw the box outside (and killed the strays on the counter)
DH also sprayed all around the house with Raid bug barrier spray (it comes in a blue bottle and has a spray trigger attached to it) Hopefully that will help too. I can't figure out where the heck they are coming from !!!
Good luck, and hopefully they will be gone for both of us soon !!!

Re: ANTS ... STILL
they are small ants, basically sugar or "coconut" ants.
we are at the point where we are ready to tear out our whole kitchen (we were planning to do it in about 2-3 years) because although it "looks" OK, its shotty and we found a hole in the floor under the stove where they are definately coming in.
tearing everything out and starting new will help.
after using the gel in the cabinets last night, we've only seen a few but it was awful yesterday morning/afternoon.
with a 2 year old and a baby on the way, I do not want to be dealing with this.

Terro Pre-Filled Liquid Ant Baits. Every spring we get ants in the kitchen and within a day or so are gone with these traps.

Scientific.
We saw some ants before we bought the house. They exterminated before we closed. Months later, late March-April certain rooms became INFESTED with those small tiny ants. Rooms with no food too.
We has already ripped out the entire house and done full renovation prior to them showing up. We used gel baites and sprayed outside and finally the wash worked. But we will have to keep up every few months and expect more to come next year too, it can take a while to get all of their colonies.
They were all in the backyard and around the pool when we opened it, again no where near food. It was horrible and I am so glad it's over!

Re: ANTS ... STILL
We were dealing with a similair situation for over a month recently. It started in the kitchen, then found them in the living room and even DD's bedroom one day. We cleaned and sprayed with Raid (red can) and used the black Raid traps all over. It helped but they would always come back. It was so gross and I was ready to call an exterminator, but I gave it one last try, to try and find their main nest. I spent so much time like a lunatic tracking them and finally located what I think was their main nest in the front of my house. I sprayed 2 cans of raid all over the outside of house in that area and the main nest, so far I have not seen any ants in 2 weeks and I hope the nightmare is over. So my suggestion is to find the source and kill them there! Good Luck
....mine were the small sugar type ants as well, I dont think I could handle that volume if they were the larger grosser ones.

Re: ANTS ... STILL
I second the Terro Ant traps. My parents just re-did there whole house, ripped off siding, new windows, new kitchen etc and they still got them this summer!!!! my mom is freaking out. She used the Terro traps and hasn't seen any in 2 months. Ants are gross.

ANTS ... STILL
we had tried the ant traps where they walk into them and out.... didn't solve the problem in our windowsill, we then called Top Gun Exterminating... they drilled like 4 holes into the sill of the bay window and put a spray in there, then plugged the holes up..... they mostly went away, and within a day were completely gone.... The guy told us it related into the gutter being clogged.

We are using the Terro traps too.
Beware though that when you first put the traps out, they will come in DROVES. But they will eventually die down. Don't stop putting them out after they have disappeared. You need to kill all of the cycles in the nest, including the newly hatched eggs. Good luck!!

Re: ANTS ... STILL
I found tons of "sweet" ants near our garbage pail and recycle bin. I have this big ant spray that I use every time I find ant hills on our patio. I sprayed all the "sweet" ants with this. I then put out two of the Terro Ant traps that they walk in and take the bait back to their nest. I haven't seen any since! (knock on wood)
Good luck!

Re: ANTS ... STILL
ugh, I thought it was just us! I can't get rid of them. I am like an ant hunter. I look all around for them because when I think they are gone, I find one. I am at the point if I see something black on the floor, I think it's an ant.
As a PP stated it gets bad if we aren't home for a few days and it's .....GROSS!
I don't get them and I want them gone. My DH has sprayed a few times and it seems to work for a little while but a few always manage to survive. It's so frustrating.
Hoping for an ant free house.

Re: ANTS ... STILL
so, the saga continues BUT, much improved. We are seeing a few here and there and only in the kitchen thankfully.
we had terminex out for a third time and they said that when they baited the 2nd time, it must have trapped most of one colony in the kitchen which makes sense and is actually a good thing (though gross).
i guess we will just have to continue to spray and bait every few months from early spring through first frost/mid fall.
i still hate ants

Re: ANTS ... STILL
My ILs swear by Grants Ants traps from Home Depot. Or you can use a 3 part water/1 pt pine sol spray which works well. Just stinks like pine sol. Its ok if its used on a kitchen counter edge but im not sure about IN a cabinet.

Re: ANTS ... STILL
I get ants every spring...bad. I've used exterminators, raid, etc and they keep coming back. Finally I just researched what to do bc didn't want to spray with kids in house. Not sure if it works for all Ants but I use Maxforce Complete Bait. Some websites won't ship to New York, but I found someone on ebay that did lol
I use it around the perimeter of the house and around fence posts, etc. Good to use this in combo with spraying outside where they may be coming in. windows, doorways, foundation, etc.
Hope that helps...good luck!
