Constipation
I'm really struggling here ladies I'm so bloated and uncomfortable! I've tried it all.. Colace, prunes, Metamucil, water etc. Are laxatives safe during pregnancy? I think dulcolax is the only thing that might help me. Im 10 weeks and look like I'm ready to give birth

Constipation
Mirilax is more like colace because it draws water into the colon and is not a stimulant but it is definitely safe during pregnancy. Give that a try.

Re: Constipation
Sorry I remember how bad my constipation was aroudn that time! I never took any medicine; but I did eat 3-4 prunes for snacks at various times during the day and upped my water. My OB told me it was ok to take Colace and/or Metamucil-but you've tried that with no luck. I don't have any other suggestions but here's a Hopefully someone else can recommend something more effective if nothing else worked already.

Re: Constipation
I am NOT pregnant but have lots of problems "going".
I have been using the CVS version of benefiber.
Its a miracle drug.
I used to take colace, and it did NOTHING for me.
The fiber helps you go.

This stuff changed my life! Seriously! Benefiber is the only thing that works. I got a big jar of the CVS one too. I put it in juice or tea or whatever I'm drinking in the am. Colace didn't work for me. I don't like prunes and prune juice was pointless. Take it a few times a day at first.
They also said if it got really bad to take milk of magnesia, but I didn't need it.

Re: Constipation
Have you tried switching your prenatal?
Also, are you eating enough fiber? Try salads twice a day to get things moving.

Have you tried gummy fibers? Those work really well for me, and they taste good too!

No Fiber One Bars when pregnant. The first ingredient makes your uterus contract. Definitely try the miralax. It helps!

Re: Constipation
I have used glycerin suppositories before when I really, really needed to go. A nurse at a doc I used to go to recommended it to me. I only did it a few times though. I would just ask your doc just in case.

Re: Constipation
The biggest thing that has helped me are my prescription prenatals which have a stool softener in them. I take citranatals and they are great! I only had a slight problem around 9-10 weeks but was pretty regular after that. Now at 31 weeks I am starting to slow down again though :(
