Sibling Age differences?
What is the age difference between your LOs? What about between you and your own siblings? Any experiences to share? An age difference you recommend or don't?
I"m an only child with just one LO, so I have nothing to contribute. My LO is 2 1/2, and we are starting to TTC again which is taking a lot longer than I had anticipated. I know that you can't always control these things, and it happens when it happens, but I'm just curious what other people's experiences with age differences have been.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
the difference between me and my brother is 12 years. it was very annoying when we were younger. now, it's kind of nice. he just started college and i can still remember that, so i can offer advice. i'm somewhere between a parent and sister to him. he's still young so an awesome playmate for my 2 year old DS.
DH and his sister are 5 years apart (DH is older) he sometimes feels like he was robbed of his childhood since he had to watch her and take her with him when he went to play with his friends.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My brother and I are 5 yrs apart. I felt like that was a huge difference. It wasn't until I was in my final year or two of college that I felt like we were on the same level.
DS is only 4 wks old and we already decided to start TTC for DC #2 in about 8 months. I'm 35 so I don't have the luxury of waiting a few yrs between kids but I wouldn't want any more that 1.5 yr difference any way.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My brother and I are 3 years apart and my girls are 21 months apart. My brother and I have always been really close. We are very good friends and my girls adore their uncle! My dd are two and 3 months right now so it's hard to tell how they will be but I pray they will grow up and be close.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My.brother & I.are 5 years apart & I feel it was not good in our younger years. Until we were both older & married is when it was a good difference. My boys are 10.5 months apart & even though it was extremely difficult in the beginning, now at 2&3, I think its great. They are best friends & the go through a lot of their stages together.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
I am the oldest of 3 - my sister is 2 years younger and my brother is 6 years younger. We are all super close.
DS will be just shy of 3 when DC #2 is born. We are debating whether we will go for 3!

Re: Sibling Age differences?
I am 6 and 9 years older than my brothers. Growing up they were (and are) closer to one another than to me, but I have grown much closer to them as adults. It was the biggest reason for me wanting to have my children close in age. My children are 25 months apart and they are very close. I think 1.5-3.5 years apart would be ideal, of course it doesn't always work that way and you take the blessings you are given.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
I am three years older than my brother and he is three years older than our little sister.
I am currently pregnant with #2 which took A LOT longer than we expected (over 2 yrs) so DD will be 4.5 when the new baby arrives. It's a bigger age difference than I would've wanted but I'm just thankful to finally be pregnant so I guess 4.5 yrs is better than nothing.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
Mine are exactly 4 years apart. Not what i originally wanted, but had some bumps along the way with having my second child. However, I have to say that even though my dd is only 3 months old, i am LOVING the age difference..it hasn't been a difficult adjustment at all..my DS ADORES his little sister..he helps me with so many things, and its fun to watch them interact...she loves sitting in her little chair and watching him play, and he is forever talking about her and hugging and kissing her.
Honestly i have no clue if they'll be close when they get older, but as of now its looking pretty good.
So, I'm very happy with the age difference. Plus after next year my DS will be in school full time and i'll have plenty of time to devote to DD.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My kids are 3 years apart and my sister and I are 4 years apart. Growing up we were never close...it was not until we were older. I hope that since my kids are closer in age, they will have more in common and be close. I am pg with #3 and this baby and my oldest will be 6 years apart.

Sibling Age differences?
I am an only child and my DSs are 27 months apart. They seem to really like each other right now. DS 1 loves to make DS 2 laugh and help him with his toys and his Jumperoo. DS 2 loves watching DS 1 and having him pay attention to him. I'm thinking this honeymoon phase will end soon, once DS 2 becomes mobile and starts touching DS 1s prized possessions LOL!

Re: Sibling Age differences?
I'm one of four. It must've been hairy for my mom, but I loved it.
#2 and I are two years apart and were always close. #3 and I are five years apart and were closer when we were older. #4 and I are ten years apart and were closer once we were much older.
My two DDs will be exactly two years apart (assuming DD2 comes close to her due date).

Sibling Age differences?
My sister is 21 months older than me. And we are very close. I am 4 years older than my brother and we get along well, but are not close. We were much closer as kids. My sister is 6 years older than my brother and they are not close at all.
I am pregnant with my first, but plan to start trying for a second one when he is a year old. My age makes it necessary to have a second child much sooner than later, but I've always wanted to have two children about 2 or so years apart.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
Me and my brother are 5 years apart...annoying growing up but we are totally fine now
My DS's are 15 months apart and I couldn't be more happier. Right now DS#1 is 20 months and DS#2 is 5 months. They love each other. DS #1 loves to help with his lil brother and DS#2 loves to stare and laugh at his big brother.
I wish I could have my 3rd the same timing but I will not have enough days at work for my maternity leave and be paid so I am waiting to try when DS#2 is 1.5 or close to that

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My brother and I are 11 years apart, and I am 4 years apart from my sister. The space between me and my brother is too much, imo. It's okay now, but we really didn't grow up together.
I like the 4 years between me and my sister, but if I could have chosen I would have us a little bit closer in age.
That's why I'm hoping DS and #2 will be 2-3 years apart.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My sister and I are 10.5 years apart. Growing up, I called her my second mom, but now, at 33 and 43, she is my best friend. We are so close, despite the age difference. While I grew up almost partly like an only child once she went away to college, we still had our share of sibling fights when I was growing up. I don't know anything different. I only have one DD, but I plan on having the next in a few years. I'd like them to be 3-4 years apart.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My kids are 18 months apart.
I am 6 years older than my sister and 9 years older than my brother.
While my kids are close in age, and currently in the terrible 2's and awful 3's, I like that I don't have to go through this again! LOL
Obviously, there are pros and cons to any age difference

Sibling Age differences?
My sis and I are 3.5 years apart. We weren't that close growing up but are super close now. I'm 10 years older than my brothers. Nothing much in common when we were younger but we are really close now too.
At this point my kids will be between 5-6 years apart. Not what I originally planned (I would have like 4 years apart) but for a number of circumstances it is what it is.
Honestly I look at it like this..DD will have her own set of friends and I was able to focus on only her for all this time. By the time I have another baby she will be in school well past the baby stuff stage so I get to enjoy that all over again with a new baby.
I'm not too concerned about my kids being close while growing up. I prefer them to be close when they are adults. Also growing up there will be no sibling rivalry since each kids would have different interests.
Of course you can't control life so who knows but for me and my sis we each made our own set of childhood friends that we are still close too PLUS we have each other and our brothers. It's the best of both worlds IMO. Plus I don't think I was cut out for 2 under 2 or 2 kids close together. God Bless you mommies that do that...LOL.

Re: Sibling Age differences?
my sister and i are 10 years apart-growing up i was more like her baby and it took til i was about 19 and she had her first baby when we started to become more like friends. today we are what i would call the best of friends! i could NOT imagine life w/o her. the age gap means nothing. we have brothers too..one brother is 8 yrs older and 4 yrs older than i am.
my kids are exactly 25 months apart and i love that. not too close and not too far!

Re: Sibling Age differences?
My DD's are 3.5 years apart and I am loving this age difference. DD #1 is such a huge help(she feeds and changes diapers...lol) and at this age, she understands that she may have to wait if I'm feeding the baby and she tolerates everything very well. It has made for an incredibly easy transition to having 2 children. Much easier than I had thought.
The baby(3 months) just stares at her big sister all day and smiles all day.
My sister and I are 4 years apart and very close. We have all the same friends and spend lots of time together.
I like that DD # 1 had plenty of Mommy/Daddy time before introducing the baby. She was well adjusted by the time the baby came home :) She thinks her baby sis is the best thing since sliced bread...llol..Hope it stays that way forever :)

Sibling Age differences?
There is a 28 month difference between my girls, one is 29months the other is 1month old :)
There is 2.5 years difference between my sister & I. It's such a nice range (2.5-3 year) IMO.
DH has 1 year between him & his sister, and 6 years between him and his brother. They aren't close at all.
