What to pack for lunch for DDI
My son starts in a couple of weeks and I have no idea what to make (he is at Rainbow Chimes now). The program is 4 hours so they said lunch, snack and 2 drinks. I was going to send water but they said no caps. Also, he will be bused from daycare so I need something that won't spoil.
TIA

Re: What to pack for lunch for DDI
My DD is starting there as well (DDI) and I used to work for RCI. LOL
I haven't heard anything from DDI. You have? Hmmm getting a bit nervous now.
I plan on sending DD with
Snack (goldfish, slice of cheese, fruit, or maybe plain cheerios)
Lunch: Sandwich (cut up) or yogurt. Maybe cold cuts? Not sure yet.
Drinks: Horizon milk (they come in boxes, like juice) and juice box.

Re: What to pack for lunch for DDI
Thanks for all your advice. My packet came on Saturday but I think I filled most of the paperwork out with Elwood. +

Re: What to pack for lunch for DDI
My DS is 4 and this is his second year at DDI in huntington. He eats a sandwich once in a while. He will take Mac and cheese in a thermos or nuggets, but they said they can heat it up if it doesn't work for him. They have a microwave in the classroom. It was great this year. They worked with him to eat more sandwiches. His snack is goldfish, yogurt, fruit, etc. He takes two juice boxes and then we do milk and water when he gets home. They helped with anything we were working on him to try at home.

Re: What to pack for lunch for DDI
My son is in the Starting Early Program at DDI and I usually send a sandwich, a yogurt, a cereal bar. I keep a stock of all his snacks and juice boxes there. They tell me when I need to replenish.

Yes as PP said send in whatever you can in bulk- juice, water, snacks-etc., this way you only need to focus on the meal.

Re: What to pack for lunch for DDI
My DD is also starting the preschool program (she was in EI class last year). I too am very nervous about the whole lunch & snack thing (DD says I'm nuts...that it is no different than what I do at home, and why am I stressing).
I think I'm going to send, for lunch: turkey & cheese (either cubed up, or rolled up and a cheese stick); greek yogurt; and maybe dinner leftovers. For snack, Teddy Grahams or pretzels or something like that and fruit. Drinks will probably be a juice box (Motts for Tots or Fruitables), or a milk box. She is learning to drink from a straw, so I'll send her cup & straw each day too for them to pour it into the proper cup for her.
I don't know how they're going to feed her all this stuff anyway. She eats breakfast at 8, then between 9 & 1 they're going to feed her lunch AND a snack??? She's only a 3 year old girl...not a 14 year old boy!
