Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
Absolutely. I brought DD to Thanksgiving dinner at 8 days old. I would go get some time out of the house.

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
No but my family are a bunch of animials who know NO boundaries and would be tossing them around like a hot potato, while I sat there and seethed. Not worth it.

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
depends... id want to know if there were going to be kids there and make sure no one was sick first. if they were coming to your home for a visit with the baby, im sure they wouldnt come if they have a little summer cold or virus or something. but if they think they are just going to a bbq then they might go while sick so i would check that out first.

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
Yes. I took DD#1 out at 2 weeks for a Memorial Day BBQ. She pretty much slept the whole time and I didn't pass her around or anything. Just make sure no one there is sick. It should be fine. Enjoy!

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
I guess I amthe odd one out. DS was born August 25th last year and I did not take him anywhere for a while. Just because it is not flu season doesn't mean people are not sick. Everyone is going to want to touch and hold your LO. If you need to get out of the house go for a walk.

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
Yes. Both my dd were taken out to family BBQ at 1 or 2 weeks. They were outside alot and only held by the grandparents, I brought hand sanitizer and I have a little sign on my stroller that said please do not touch LOL

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
Definitely not. Way too young to risk playing "pass the baby".
I agree about going for a walk if you need some fresh air.

Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
I would. You need fresh air and sunlight. I was cooped up in the house for 2 weeks and once we went out, I felt so much better. Just keep DC close so everyone knows its not time to be passed around just yet. :)

Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
I would, but would take the baby out of the carrier as little as possible, or wear a sling as another poster suggested. Hopefully people can respect whatever boundaries you set in regards to holding her (ex. Washing their hands first, using purell, draping a receiving blanket on them so it acts as a boundary between their clothes and her)

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
Thanks Everyone for your responses! We ended up going for a little bit. I left DS in his carrier with the net around it so no one touched him and he was clear of getting bit by any mosquitos. We only stayed for about 2 hours then left before he would wake up looking for food. It was great to get out for a little bit.
THanks everyone! Happy Labor Day!

Re: Would you take a 2 week old to a family BBQ?
Absolutely, and the fact that you are so close to home (in the case she gets cranky or what not) is a big plus. Go and enjoy yourself
