Haircuts!
Anyone else dread getting their LO a haircut?
DS has gotten many and he just gets worse and pretty much cries, whines and screams during it.
There's no preparing him for it now. I tell him and he's had it done many times so he knows. He also gets icecream after. We go to a kids place at the mall where there's a lot of distractions, but he still hates it.
Believe me we try everything, but the moment he's in the chair he screams.
Same happens at the doctor, dentist, etc.
He hates the unknown and stuff happening to him that he's not aware of. I try movies, utube videos, playing pretend.

This was pretty much my son also. We took him to the kid place also and he screamed the entire time! DH now buzzes it himself and it is a little easier.

Haircuts!
AJ is 5 and still has total meltdowns, i should say more like a violent fit when getting a haircut.
we have tried social stories, and everything, but each year it gets worse and worse.
hugs hugs and hugs... from my personal experience it hasnt gotten better.

I cut both my kids hair! DD can't tolerate water on her face and the sound of the hair dryer. And DS is terrified someone is going to "cut his ear off". I have hair scissors and a buzzer! The buzzer is pretty easy and fool-proof if you put a guard on it

Luckily he wasn't that bad. I can't do it as well. The girl was really good and fast.

It used to take two people to hold him down and then the barber to cut. That lasted until about 3.5-4. Now (at 5) he sits perfectly and even talks to the barber. complete 180
