Talk to me about Placenta Previa
So at my ultra screen this week the OB mentioned my placenta was low. He didn't say how low or how much of my cervix it was covering, if at all. He said it usually corrects itself, which I already knew, but he wasn't super clear about the whole having sex thing. He said something like he doesn't normally put someone on pelvic rest so early on (I am 13 wks) and basically said to DH and I that its up to me if I want to . I haven't had ANY bleeding or spotting at all and when we do have sex there is no pain or discomfort either.
Soooooo............my question is, what is your experience with placenta Previa and what would you do about if you were me? DH is a little nervous now but the thought of NO intercourse is killing me............(TMI) because I have been insanely frisky since getting pregnant and we are A LOT!!!!!! Like really, a lot!!!
TIA

Talk to me about Placenta Previa
My first pregnancy, I had partial placenta previa that they saw at the 12 w u/s. My OB said the same thing. Keep working out, keep BD, keep doing everything as I was but if I see any bleeding to let them know immediately. I didn't change my habits at all (I was going to the gym 4 days a week at that point doing a lot of cardio and weights) and never had any problems. By my 20 w u/s, it had all but cleared and they checked again at 28 weeks and it had completely moved up.
My OB said that as your uterus grows, it causes the placenta to move up and away from the cervix. So previa early on is extremely common.
Use your discretion and keep an eye on things. If you irritate your cervix and start seeing bleeding after a marathon bed session, talk to your doctor. But if they were really concerned, he would've put you on bed rest and told you nothing should go up there.

Re: Talk to me about Placenta Previa
It's SO early in your pregnancy that I'd try not to panic. As your uterus grows, the placenta will move upward. If you feel up to , go for it.

Talk to me about Placenta Previa
I had a similar situation to you after my ultrascreen except the tech told me my placenta was fully covering my uterus. I had no bleeding issues previous to that. I called my dr and he put me on pelvic rest until I came in the following week and he could look himself. He didn't get a good idea of the position via the techs pictures. When he saw it the next week he took me off pelvic rest and said not to worry it was only slightly covering and he thought it would move. We BD normally with no issues. I had no other issues and at 17 weeks it had moved. Hope this helps!

Re: Talk to me about Placenta Previa
Aaahhhhhh......thank you girls. I feel better. I was thinking the same thing too, I would think if my OB was so concerned about it he would've flat out said, no sex. He didn't say that at all so my feeling was it should be ok, just wanted to see what others thought as well so I can ease DH's mind.

Talk to me about Placenta Previa
I had placenta previa diagnosed with my DS at 11 weeks, and was put on full pelvic rest by my OB until 20 weeks. At my 20 week u/s the placenta had moved up and everything was fine. DH probably would have "cheated" and DTD but I was too nervous since it was my first pregnancy. It was a rather long stretch lol but we did get creative, kind of like dating in high school over again ;)

No "O" too??!!........ I would die. Just kidding, I would make it thru.......barely. lol.
In your case, I would totally steer clear of anything too. The blood and all that would've scared me to death so I am sure sure that makes it easier to stay away. I guess that's why I feel a little more relaxed about it, I have never so much as spotted so far and the OB seemed pretty chill about it. We've been having sex practically every day (prior to finding out about the placenta Previa) so I was thinking of maybe just chillin out a little on the frequency. I can live with that for now. I don't want to endanger the baby, no way.......this child is a miracle. I wish the OB was a little more clear, I guess that's partially my fault too for not asking more questions.
