Re: Runners...

Usually 4 times a week (sometimes 3, sometimes 5, but generally not more or less than that). On average I run 4-5 miles at a time. I try to run 15+ miles per week.

Re: Runners...

I'm not that serious about it but I've stepped it up lately and jog every other day. On weekdays it's a little tough so I'll only do about 2.5 to 3 miles. But I'm finding I don't lose muscle tone in between, and I do strength training on off-days.

Someone here said that the more days you wait in between running, the more you have to acclimate your body when you do start again.

Re: Runners...

3-4 times a week. At least 1 run is more than 4 miles (4.5ish), and nothing is less than 3 miles. I try to run 12-15 miles a week. After my race on Saturday I want to start training for a 10k, so then I will be working up to a 6.2 mile run at least 1x a week.

Re: Runners...

I've dropped my mileage a lot over the summer - I was burned out!

Now I run about 4x a week, for around 20-25 miles.

Re: Runners...

For anyone who wants to increase mileage, make sure you are only increasing by 10% each week to avoid injury.

I got to where I am now by increasing by (more or less) 10% over the course of a few weeks.

My weeks look like this:

6 days a week, 42-48 miles per week

1 Long run (10-12 miles - 85-95 minutes)
1-2 Workout days (hills, tempo run, track, etc)
3-4 Easy runs (6-8 miles - 50-70 minutes)

Re: Runners...

Every day. Distance depends on my mood/what I am training for.

I do long runs on weekends (marathon training) and shorter runs during the week but I run at least one mile a day and typically 3-9.

Re: Runners...

I cut back my mileage a ton because I started having knee issues. I used to run 5 days a week, 3 miles was the shortest distance and 10 miles would be the longest.

With my knee going to crap, I have started taking a lot more strength training and HIIT classes but I still run 2 days a week. One day will be a 4 miler give or take and the other day is 30 minutes of intervals

Re: Runners...

I like to get one long run of 10-15

4-5 other days - 4-7 miles, but these last two weeks, I'm lucky to get the long run in and maybe 2 others.

Re: Runners...

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try and shoot for 3-4 times a week. I work FT, have 3 kids, and a husband that travels for work - so it isn't easy. I'm very proud that I've gotten as far as I have. I did 4 miles this morning, and felt great! I would like to eventually get to one longer run of 6 miles, and 2-3 other runs of 3-4 miles every week.
Thanks!

Re: Runners...

2-3 times a week around 2-3 miles (I'm a new runner).

I also do 3 days strength training and maybe yoga will be thrown in there.
