I get the ticket but the fee? Am I wrong here?
I got a ticket for a turn on yellow turning red. Ok, fine I'll pay. However, why is the ticket $50 plus $30 admin fee plus $4 for paying online. That is insane to me. What a money making bunch of crap! The only way to avoid the $4 is in person or mail. I can get over this but what is up with the $30???
Sorry for the vent but I keep reading the admin is $15 so why now $30?

I don't have an answer for you (even asked my DH who isn't sure.. ) but that would bother me too!!!  It would especially would bother me that it costs more to pay online. Aren't most companies promoting the paper-free movement??

Thats all tickets are - ways to generate money for the county or the state. If they were really deterrents, people would never repeat it!

I could be wrong but I think you can get it reduced if you pay in person. It can't hurt to call and ask.

Not to get off topic - but if the light was still yellow, why did you get a ticket in the first place?! Ugh. The fees are terrible, i've had to pay them too...

No, it was basically red I guess but it was yellow when I began the turn...I think

Thanks for the replies, I should also add, technically, I think it was my DH driving.
I saved the ticket and I am going to call.
Good point too about going paperless.

I thought the fine is your punishment for breaking the law and the service fee was paying the police officer for the time? But it sounds like this was a red light camera? In that case, I think the service fee is to the company that processes them.
The $4 isn't for online payment, it's for CC. I had to pay it in person for using a CC.
