My BFP story - a sad update
I want to share my story for other women who are struggling with unexplained infertility. DH and I have been TTC for a year. I did 3 unmonitored cycles of Clomid with my gyn without success. After the 3rd cycle I made an appt with an RE. I went to the RE on CD19 and my progesterone test showed that I had ovulated already. DH and I had only BD 2 and 4 days prior to that blood test. I wasn't hopeful. So I was just waiting to get AF, so we could move forward with our next cycle of Clomid and IUI. DH and I had vacation plans and we were leaving for the UK on 16 DPO. I tested on 10 DPO, 12 DPO and 14 DPO all BFN. On 16 DPO I still didn't get AF, so I called the RE so that I could get the prescription for Clomid in case I needed to start while I was away. I just kept thinking if AF shows while I'm away and I miss my Clomid start date, then we're out another cycle. I saw the RE, had some blood work done, and picked up my Clomid 6 hours before my flight. On our 2nd day in London I checked my voicemail and had a msg from the doctor's office. "We have the results of your blood test and you are indeed pregnant." I just got back into the country last night and will be going in for another blood test tomorrow to confirm. I am in complete shock. After all that we had gone through, OPKs, temping, clomid, timed BD and to find out while we're on vacation in another country that we got pregnant during what I thought was an inbetween cycle just blows my mind. I always hated when ppl would say "it'll happen as soon as you stop trying", but I'm now proof. If you have unexplained infertility there is still hope. I don't want my update to discourage anyone. And I want to say thank you to all of you for your well wishes. I went back in for bloodwork on Thursday and my levels had dropped from the week prior. I was told late Thursday afternoon that I would soon experience a miscarriage. I went back in on Friday for more bloodwork and an exam to confirm. Unfortunately, they were right. I was loosing the pregnancy. I have never felt such sadness. With the help of my doctors, DH and my family I am trying to focus on the positive - I was able to get pregnant. My RE said that puts me in a whole new category. So I'm trying to stay strong and focus on this and stay hopeful for the future. Thank you again for the well wishes and for the support and just for giving me a place to express my feelings. Good luck to everyone!
