When to Get the Flu Shot
At my last appointment (11w4d) my doctor told me I need to get the flu shot. I was very torn over this but after doing lots of research it does seem like the right thing to do. However, I would like to get the preservative free shot and I see that my local Rite Aid has it. Are there guidelines for when pregnant women should get the flu shot? I am 13w4d now. I would call my doctor's office but I just feel like they are going to try to convince me to let them do the shot even though they don't have the preservative free one.

There's no right or wrong time to get the shot based on your pregnancy. But it takes about 2 weeks to become fully effective, so you want to get it sooner than later as flu season is coming upon us quickly!
You want to be sure your husband gets the shot, as well.

I asked when I was at the dr and she told me the reg flu shot was fine just as long as your don't get the nasal spray that is not approved for pregnant women.

Got mine yesterday. Only get the preservative free one it's. Without thimerisol. Most places have it.

My OB said it doesnt matter when but he said my peri is against it. I meant to ask him but forgot. So I guess I'll just get it in the hospital.

I got mine at like 36-37 weeks. i got the preservative free from walgreens, just make sure when you go you tell them you're pregnant and you only want the preservative free, just so they don't mess up :)

I got mine today, I will be 20 weeks tomorrow. When I was at dr on sep 13 they told me to get in the the next few weeks. I went to Walgreens and they had no mercurysnd preservative free.

I got the preservative free shot 2 weeks ago when I was 20 weeks. My doctor said anytime after the first trimester is fine.
