Moms who had twins the second time around
Hey everyone,
I am a long time poster with a cover name - for now - I am 8 weeks pg with twins and my DS is 3. I keep thinking, how am I going to do this? I don't have double gear - bouncers, high chairs, cribs etc. Did you go out and buy, did people donate their old stuff to you, did you find at yard sales or craigs list?
And how am I going to manage newborns with an (almost 4 year old) by the time they come along?

Moms who had twins the second time around
my daughter will be 2 1/2 when my twins are born. we are re-using her crib and were able to get a second crib from babies r us that was discontinued for CHEAP (go to the furniture dept and they have a binder of discontinued furniture, my crib was $90 so even if you want 2 matching it would still be cheap to buy 2!). i have been buying things a little at a time with 20% off coupons so i dont have to do a huge expensive trip. i had one of the girls on here give me a double snap and go and 2 bouncers. i also did great at the target baby gear clearance (you should def. stalk the january clearance!) there is a multiples buy/sell group on facebook that always has tons of stuff as well.
dont even worry about the stuff you dont use right away, like the high chair. but if you do get to target for the clearance, they had swings, high chairs, bouncers, etc.... all for 50% off!
as far as managing newborns with a toddler.....im terrified of that as well haha but i keep telling myself that people do it all the time, so it can be done!
good luck!!

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
Me. I did it...and you will be able to as well.
I did have a sprinkle..thanks to my sis. I was able to get the things I really needed and I did hold on to a lot of things from my DD (who was also 3 at the time).
I got two inexpensive cribs.
A lot of things were hand me downs. People were so nice and offered me things they didnt need and that all came in handy!
I even have a Graco High chair that you can have. its sitting in my basement as we speak.

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
there are a bunch of us on here that survived this!!
my son was 2 1/2 when my twins were born. i did have a sprinkle with immediate family and my 2 best friends only. everyone was very generous and i did not need to buy too much of the big items. and a lot of family/friends lent me stuff also. i bought them new cribs (inexpensive ones) and had to buy a few other things.
someone lent me a double snap and go and i have it to a mom on here. you can probably get one of those for next to nothing from here. and you don't need 2 of every single thing in the beginning. i had one baby who hated the swing and one who loved it, and one who hated the bouncy sea and one who loved it.
congratulations!!!

I don't know..I am in the same boat though. I have to say that People on this site and facebook multiples site have been extremely generous. Their generosity combined with awesome sales (got 2 high chairs, a swing and a bouncy from target at 75% off recently) things will be ok I think. You will be so surprised at just how wonderful and helpful people can be...I am sure its all going to come together.

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
Congrats! There are a lot of us! My twins were born when DS was 26 months. I did not have a sprinkle. I bought a lot of baby gear off craigslist, from other moms in playgroups, and the facebook buy/sell groups.

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
I'm 31 weeks with twins and my DS just tuned 3. I too was overwhelmed about everything I would need but like the others said I ended up buying stuff really cheap from other mommies and have also had some very generous friends give/lend me things as well. I will need to buy a few things I can't find cheap (co sleeper, another infant seat) but I think my family is going to help me out:). I still don't know what to expect bc they are not here yet but now that they are almost here I'm so excited!!!! I'm a little overwhelmed with the thought of how many diapers I'm going to need. Thank God my son is out of them for the most part lol. Congratulations btw... It's such a blessing to be pregnant with 2!!!!

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
DS was 2y9m when my girls were born. I had kept nearly everything from DS. I didn't bother with 2 swings. But I did buy a second bouncer. Only had 1 exersaucer and jumperoo and just would swap the girls when necessary.
Having twins and a son under 3 was difficult. But we found our way and I couldn't picture our family any other way.
Congratulations!

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
I am doing it right now...my boy/girl twins are 5 1/2 months and I have a 3 1/2 year old. Some days are easier than others. My older DD has been a big girl helper for Mommy. She helps me as much as she can. It is also getting better in that the babies are beginning to interact with my DD. She loves making the babies laugh. It can be hard when all 3 need Mommy's attention. My family helped me a lot in the first 2 months which was a God send. My family and friends helped with purchasing the extra high chair, car seat, swing, etc. I just went back to work full-time and it can be quite intense just figuring out how to manage everything, i.e. laundry, laundry, laundry! Best of luck to you!!

Re: Moms who had twins the second time around
My DS was 21 months old when my twins were born. We actully already had some doubles of things that we had kept at my MIL's/babysitters houses but everything else friends gave us. We didnt have a sprinkle. The double snap and go we bought off someone on here.
It will take time to figure out a routine and learn to juggle it all but you manage. Some days I remember counting the minutes until they'd all go to bed so I would get a break but Its definitely gotten easier over time.
