Second/ third time around moms some questions?

I figured if you already have a child you may be on here more than the pregnancy board so thought I would ask this on here.

What did you buy before your second child arrived?

Did you buy a new cradle / crib mattress or use the same one? what about the mattress protectors etc?

Anything you did differently to prepare for your second that you had not done with your first?

Any other tips. ideas etc?

I am 30 weeks with #2 and for some reason this past weekend I started to nest! and panic slightly!

Re: Second/ third time around moms some questions?

DD had brand-new convertible furniture, and DS had his convertible bed, so we needed a new mattress, sheets, protectors, etc.

Since we were "experienced", we didn't have to stress as much.

We were able to re-use the Angelcare monitor, but needed to get a new sound monitor, since they had separate rooms.

I bought the following things:
new crib (DDs were only 20 mos apart)
Sit and Stand stroller
diapers
toiletries like baby wash, etc.
new onesies, burp cloths, bibs
pacifiers (even though neither DD used one! Chat Icon)
new bottles
second monitor

Otherwise, I recycled just about everything else.

I have to say, I didn't do too much differently for #2. Are you having a c-section? Because I freaked out so much more before the second time since I KNEW what to expect, KWIM? Although in the end, it was a better overall experience. I brought a ton of pictures of DD#1 to focus on during the surgery (which I suppose would work for labor too) and one to put in the hospital bassinet--which DD#1 got a kick out of.

I also bought DD#1 a couple of small gifts "from" the baby.

That's really about it!

Re: Second/ third time around moms some questions?

Thanks!!

I love the idea about putting the pic of DC #1 in the bassinet at the hospital - thanks for that and also the gifts - must remember that.

My kids will be 3 1/2 years apart so feel like a newbie sort of!

I was feeling so nostalgic looking through DD's baby clothes last night that I was secretly hoping that this DC was a girl too so I could use the cute pink clothes again.

So there is no need to buy a new mattress for the cradle?
