Is this lame?

DD's 1st bday party is in Dec.. would it be really lame for me to combine her birthday invitation in the same envelope as our Christmas cards??

I figured I woud save on postage but I dont want to take away from either "event"

I would not do it. I prefer each item arrive on it's own.

Re: Is this lame?

I would not do it either. A former boss said she did it and regretted it because she felt that no one noticed the birth announcement.

Is this lame?

If I were to receive both in one envelope, I would think nothing of it.

ETA: And when I receive mail, I take everything out of the envelope, especially when it comes from someone I know. I don't know anyone who wouldn't do that.

I would not do it b/c I would be afraid that someone would pull only the Christmas card out of the envelope, and somehow miss the invitation, not expecting something else to be in there.

In addition, I just prefer each card to have their own envelope. If it's important enough for me to send the item, it's important enough to arrive on it's own. JMO

I'd make it a point to never combine the two. Your daughter will thank you for it!!!!

I wouldn't do it only because I would be nervous the invite might get overlooked or lost in the shuffle with the Xmas card when opened. I would just send them separate, maybe even a few days apart too. Chat Icon

I personally wouldn't think anything of it myself if I received those together.

BUT... I think every family has certain members who are sticklers and who will probably think it's bad etiquette, or whatever. You know, the annoying great-aunt who will then call your mom and make some remark about it. So that's the only problem I could see with doing it that way.

Re: Is this lame?

I don't think it's lame...she's turning one, she won't know the difference. In years to come, when sending out the invites might be something she would want to be involved in, then yeah, send them separate.

I always send 4x8 photo cards so it wouldn't work but honestly I wouldn't do it anyway.

Is this lame?

I don't think it is lame and I would do it to save money too. It's her First birthday so she isn't going to know the difference if you feel it will be taking away from the event.

My concern would be that people wouldn't realize there are two items in the envelope but you can always paperclip them back to back so when it is pulled out of the envelope people will notice the paperclip and realize there are two items..

Re: Is this lame?

I wouldn't do i t- only b/c I'm a 12/22 kid and appreciated the fact that my parents did their best to keep my birthday separate from Christmas ......

but if I received it, I wouldn't think twice about it - the invite would go on the fridge and the xmas card would go w/ the rest ........who has time to think about this stuff to the point that they would be annoyed?
