my health anxiety is in full swing right now.....question about pelvic pain

I have been experiencing pelvic pain since I had my daughter almost 2 years ago. I have had a number of sonos and exams and finally after nothing was coming up I had a laporoscopy the end of June.

I ended up having a few small cysts and a few small fibroids and a lil bit of endometriosis. The dr cleaned me all out but the pain remained. He feels I have adenomyosis which is endometriosis in the muscle of the uterus. Only way to diagnosis that is to do a hysterectomy and cut it open on the table.

Anyway we are ttc now so that I can have a hysterectomy but we wanted one more child. This is the first month ttc and I wound ip with a horrific yeast infection and maybe a bladder infection.

Problem is my pelvic pain feels worse. I stupidly googled my symptoms and cervical and ovarian cancer keep coming up. I now have pain radiating down my legs from my pelvic area which is a sign of these cancers.

My question is this. If I had these cancers would the laporoscopy be able to detect it? The dr tells me I am fine but my body is telling me something is wrong. Problem is I do have hypochondria so sometimes I let it get the best of me.

I am just in pain and scared something is being iver looked. Oh and I did go for a 2nd opinion. I left my old obgyn when he told me it was the fibroid causing pain and I needed to have it removed. New dr said the fibroid is sk small it woildnt cause my apin and surgery wasnunneccessary but he is the one who did the laporoscopy and thinks I have adenomyosis.
Sorry this is so long. Please give your insight

Re: my health anxiety is in full swing right now.....question about pelvic pain

Sorry you are going through this.

Are you up to date with your Paps? Did you have an Sonograms or CT scan before you went in for your Lap?

I ask you those things because a CT scan or Sonogram would show a mass of some sort (even when small). And with the Lap, if you had a mass somewhere in there, then they would have seen it (if it were big enough)

With regular paps, you would show a change before it became cancer (Abnormal Cells, etc)

I think you should ask your Dr. Straight out. Just say. I'm scared I have cancer and see what they say. If they huff you away, see another Dr.

Until you find a physician you trust, you won't feel confident in how they treat you.

I understand pelvic pain. I've had pain for what feels like forever. Very long story short, I had a Lap, have endo and a blocked tube. Since the lap, the pain took about 3 months to start to "subside". It's not gone.
The only thing that ever helped my pain was BCP. But we are TTC so that isn't possible. I pretty much just suffer.

I really hope you find some answers soon.

Thank you for your response. Yes I am up to date with my paps and yes I have had plenty of sonos. I do trust my dr my my hypochondria rears its ugly head and makes me question everything. My dr also suggested birth control pill but like you we are ttc so that is not an option now. I really want to get preggo asap and then get a partial hysterectomy

Oh I understand the hypochondria

I think that comes from living in constant pain. You just CAN'T Believe it's Nothing! Ya know?

Example: I think I pulled my pectoral muscle somehow yesterday (I don't remember doing anything) It hurts so bad I have already thought it was a tumor and/blood clot. Yup, I get it LOL

If I don't die, I'm gonna guess it is a pulled muscle

have you ever had a pelvic MRI? i ask because i had a hip MRI a while back, and the report diagnoses adenomyosis and recommended a full pelvic MRI to confirm. When i showed my OB/GYN the report, she said yeah you probably do, and just treated the symptoms instead of doing the full MRI. so it seems that they can diagnose from the MRI, rather than invasive surgery.

i can tell you that i was getting really bad cramping, heavy bleeding, and i couldn't tell if the pain was coming from my belly or my back (i have back problems that cause alot of low back pain) i went on depo-provera shots and the problems went away.

(sorry this is unrelated to the OP!) but I can related to this 10000%!!! My dh always tells me the world is not nearly as scary a place as I think it is .... If you looked up my google history in any given week, you would see me googling all kinds of weird shit that I think is wrong with me! I'm sure what will get me in the end is high blood pressure from all the worrying I do on a daily basis!

To the OP .. although I don't have advice directly related to your situation, I do have experience with a doctor who told me one thin and was VERY wrong. Trust your instincts and go to as many other opinions as you can until you get an answer you are comfortable with. I know how it is ... sometimes I have to gauge how much of my problem is REAL and how much of it is my anxiety making be believe I'm on my death bed Chat Icon but you are in pain! You must get this resolved one way or another! Be your own advocate... If you need another OB rec, I have a very good one.

Me too. Sometimes I can't believe other people actually asked the same google question I did!

Tonight on top of this pain in my what I believe is my pectoral muscle, my right thumb feels like I dislocated it and put it back. It's throbbing! I did NOTHING to it My DH just shook his head when I told him.

That's next on my google list. Throbbing thumb LOL

Re: my health anxiety is in full swing right now.....question about pelvic pain

It's been a while since I researched all of this for myself but I am pretty sure I have good info for you.

I had an open myomectomy and I believe that if I had adenoymosis they would have found it then. I don't see why they would have to do a hysterectomy to find it. They would be able to feel it during the surgery and they are supposed to send tissue samples to a lab. The only issue with the samples is that if you do not have the adenomyosis in that spot it would not be detected. The same thing with cancer. But I think that adeno happens all over, not just in small parts of the uterus (not sure as I did not turn out to have it, thankfully!). They probably would have found cancer or adeno. with your other surgery. I think that if the doctor even had a small reason to think you had cancer or adenomyosis he would have wanted to do an open surgery. They usually make more money on the open surgeries, they are easier to do and they do not want to be sued for failing to diagnose. I felt a lot of pressure from fibroids and endometriosis but I never had pain radiating down my legs. I have that now, years later, with a back injury and I would suspect that a lot more quickly with the pain you describe. Did you ask whether your pain can be from scar tissue?

Thank you for your info.
The only true way to diagnose adenomyosis is to actually do pathology which involves taking the uterus out and opening it up. You can find sign/symptoms that may lead the dr to believe it is adenomyosis by mri or laporoscopy. But no definitive answer will be given until you have a hysterectomy.

My legs are no longer hurtning, I think that stemed from my lower back (I have a slipped disc that acts up sometimes. I really do trust this dr and he seems so unconcerned because in his words "I was just in your uterus and everything is fine" lol.

My mother suffered with horrific female issues her whole life. Was very fertile and had 3 kids no problem but did need a hysterectomy at 40 yrs old due to endo and adenomyosis and fibroids. Looks like I am following in mommys foot steps. Just hope to have one more child first.
