***Update with new numbers*** Question reguarding early HCG levels
UPDATE: So my hcg came back at 224 which shows a doubling every day and a half. In my dr's words, "You are beautifully pregnant" First appointment in 2 weeks. So happy my daughter will get a little brother or sister. Thanks again for all your encouraging words
Hi all, I am hoping I will belong on this board very shortly. I got a very very early positive on a frer and went for blood work that same day. I believe I was only 10dpo. My hcg came back at 18. I did get positives on digital tests 2 days later so I am assuming my levels have gone up since that first faint line. I go for a 2nd blood test today but I was just wondering if any of you had a very low number like this and went on to have a healthy pregnancy.
When I got pregnant with my dd 2 years ago I had blood work on 11dpo and my first hcg was 36 so I obviously start off with low numbers but do you think 18 is TOO low

Question reguarding early HCG levels
I don't know if there's any way to know what's "too" low, because it all just depends on if they go up...lots of sticky dust for you!

Re: Question reguarding early HCG levels
Obviously everyone's HCG numbers have to start low. We usually just don't get tested that early!
Plus, the first number is irrelevant. It's only the rise between the first and second numbers that are important. Your HCG should double about every 48 hours at the beginning. I'm sure everything is fine with your pregnancy.
Good luck!

Re: Question reguarding early HCG levels
I think it really just depends, every pregnancy is so different.
With my DD I had a relatively low initial hcG since I tested at 10DPO and got a super faint line. But at every beta the hcG rose appropriately. I got pregnant 3 other times after my DD and each started with a low hcG reading and I misscarried all 3 times.
One was a faint BFP and two days later I miscarried, it was a chemical. The other two pregnancies my hcG started low and although continued to rise, it wasn't doubling properly and it was taking longer than it should have to go up. We ended up forcing a miscarriage with those two pregnancies around 8-9 weeks.
I guess the point is, you just don't know. I've had low hcG go both ways. Only time will tell. I for you that your hcG continues to rise and that you go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Lots of luck!!!!

Re: Question reguarding early HCG levels
I have no experience, as I've never had a beta that early , but I agree that it's probably that low because you were only 10DPO. What matters is that it doubles.
Good luck!!! I'm sure everything is OK!

Re: Question reguarding early HCG levels
ALL pregnancies start out at a low beta. Think about it .. Your hcg is 0 when you're not pregnant... The number has to start from somewhere! Anyone who gives birth at one time had a beta of 5.
It's not the number that matters, but the doubling rate that is important. Your initial number could be 550 but it means nothing if it doesn't increase correctly.
Good luck!

Re: Question reguarding early HCG levels
DD was 24 at 16DPO and she's 7 and a half! What matters is the doubling! Best of luck...it's so nerve-wracking!

***Update with new numbers*** Question reguarding early HCG levels
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! my HcG started off at 25 and didn't actually double correctly within the 48 hours i had to go to retest. So every 48 hours it would go up about 60% but did not "double" exactly. I am 26w4d now and all is well!
