Pick-Up Marathon/Half Marathon Fundraiser for Those Affected by Sandy
Thought I'd post here in case any runners are interested.
My husband was supposed to run in this year's NYC Marathon...now is trying to organize an informal, non-timed pick-up marathon/half marathon this Saturday, November 10th beginning in RVC to provide an opportunity to use all that training to raise funds for those devastated by Superstorm Sandy.
If you have any interest in joining please FM me for more information. He was thinking of an "entry fee" of $26.20 for the full and $13.10 for the half, donated through a local charity (The Capt. James Corrigan Foundation) that has pledged to give 100% of funds directly to the families in need.
Please spread the word if you know anyone who might be interested (perhaps others who planned to run NYC this year).

Just an FYI...there is a 10k in RVC this Saturday so most roads might be closed to those runners

I think this race was canceled, according to the glirc website.

I think this race was canceled, according to the glirc website.
Yes this was canceled (but I know OP knows that  ). I got both a phone call and an email about it.
Laura, I hope this snow melts and not too many trees down so he can still do this!

Well, it was just DH who ran the full 26.2 and one other friend who ran the half. But he did it AND raised more than $1,000 from co-workers, family and friends for Sandy relief efforts. Very proud of him!
