Private Speech Therapy
Does anyone have any recommendations for a private speech therapist in Western Nassau? My son did not qualify for EI and I am exploring private options. Though the search has been difficult.
Thanks

Re: Private Speech Therapy
It is very expensive. I would contact your insurance and see what they will cover. I know my insurance would cover 20 sessions per year. After that it can be $75+ a session.

Re: Private Speech Therapy
I actually spoke with insurance, and if I can find an in network provider I have a copay of $20/session for an unlimited number of sessions. The problem is they can't/won't help me find someone and my searches are not leading me anywhere. On the insurance website there are a few people listed in my area but I have no idea if they work with kids etc. I have left a few messages but no call backs yet. It is very frustrating at this point. I could really use some direction if anyone has any advice.

Re: Private Speech Therapy
FM me your e-mail. My DS got speech through EI and now the district. I will scan and e-mail you the list of agencies/providers they gave me to choose from. You can contact them to see if they accept your isnurance.

I'm pretty sure Hofstra has a program. I'll try to find it on their website for you.

Re: Private Speech Therapy
I'm a SLP--I would try LISHA.org. you may even be able to get some leads if you contact the SLP in your local elementary school. Personally, I'm not into the college programs' clinics. I think you'll do better on your own and I don't think they'll be much of a savings. FM if you want...I know an SLP in one of elementary schools in Franklin Square (she's great and one of my former interns). She may be picking up some private clients or know someone in that area who does EI.

Re: Private Speech Therapy
I know a great private speech therapist who I worked with- she works privately in Queens and Nassau County. Her # is 516-366-0622, or you can also email her at [email protected].
