What car do you drive
We just found out that we have some large jobs to do on our Pilot right now. Such horrible timing of course. The car has just under 100,000 miles on it. I have a DS already and am now expecting twins. While I know Hondas are great cars and can run well past 100,000 miles, I'm not sure it makes sense to put the money into the car. I'm trying to figure out how I'd ever manage 3 in car seats in the middle row of a Pilot? I never wanted a mini van but does it make it that much easier? I guess the Pilot would be ok when the twins were in infant seats but how the heck do you fasten the middle seat once all three are in convertible car seats? The Pilot is safely running right now but it won't pass safety check in February without the work being done. So we have a few months to figure out what to do and make sure the twins are healthy. Any feedback from moms of multiples and another child would be much appreciated. Thanks

Re: What car do you drive
we have the Pilot. When we found out I was pregnant with twins we went out and got the CR-V, which would've been okay to fit 2 car seats. However, my twins ended up being born very early and as a result my son had a lot of medical complications. When he finally came home the hospital, the CR-V didn't work for us. Someone has to sit in the back with him when we are in the car (either me, DH, or his nurse) so we needed a car that could fit 2 car seats and an adult comfortably in the back. We looked at a bunch of SUVs and the Pilot was the one that worked best for us. If you need three car seats in the back the Pilot should work. I think it may be worth it to just fix it up and keep that for awhile.

I definitely want it to work. I really don't want a car payment when all these life changes are coming. How do you buckle the middle car seat in once they are all in convertible seats? DS is still only a toddler.

I have a minivan (even though I swore I would NEVER get one). With the twins we will have 3 kids, plus we often travel with our 100lb doggy, so nothing else really worked for us...it's a love/hate relationship!

Re: What car do you drive
just the automatic doors alone make it worth it with 3 kids!! i love the idea of being able to open all the doors and my daughter can climb in herself and i can still hold the car seats without having to put them down.
trust me, i fought with the idea of driving a minivan, but it really makes sense!

the automatic doors alone make it worthwhile!! I had a trailblazer when my twins were born and my son was 2 1/2. all 3 in a row was ok with infant seats but one it was3 convertible car seat we needed something bigger. it was too had to buckle the middle seat.
we have the Sienna and love it! I was so against a mini van that my DH shopped and bought it without me, now I love it

They are both in convertible car seats and we have them in the middle and passenger side so that the adult sits behind the driver. I'd have to ask DH exactly how he did it, but the car seat is able to be connected in the middle.

Honda Odyssey. I love, love, love it. DD was 4 when our twins were born. I agree with the comment about the sliding doors alone making it awesome.

I have a mini van. I have a LOVE-Hate relationship with it...mostly love...I just can't get passed the fact that I drive a minivan.
I have twins and another on the way. IMO no other way to go with 3 little ones in a carseat. Down the line when the kids are older and can get themselves out of their carseat/booster seat (g-o-d forbid there is an emergency) we will get a truck with 3 rows.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I am hoping this works for me. We've only had our Pilot for a year. Bought it right before my twins were born so I still have 4 years of car payments left. My twins are one and I have another one due in 5 months.

Re: What car do you drive
Thank you for asking this! We are struggling with this issue as well. There is absolutely no way 3 carseats are going to fit in either my car or DH's, so we are going to have to trade in one of our leases.. it's either Nissan or Infiniti. I swore I would never get a minivan, but I'm thinking we might end up with a Quest. Pilots have a 3rd row, right? Can you put your toddler in the middle of the 3rd row and have the twins in the backseat? My sister has a Pilot and it's huge inside!

This was my experience. when we were looking when I was preg with the twins. We decided against the 3rd row suv's and went with the minivan. when the 3rd row was set up there was no room for the double stroller etc. I also couldnt imagine getting to the 3rd row to strap someone in. The electric doors are so nice in my van.

Re: What car do you drive
When I was 6 months pregnant with my twins (DS was around 2.5) my lease on my Ford Edge was up. We hunted and hunted and hunted for an SUV because I was anti mini van. In the end we wound up with the Toyota Sienna which is a mini van. But the power doors, trunk, rear camera, moon roof, dvd player, AWD, and safety ratings just out ranked all other options in our mind.
I have to say I am coming up on my second year of driving it and I couldn't imagine being in any other vehicle with twins and an older child. It really does and has EVERYTHING.

Re: What car do you drive
We have a Toyota Highlander, and I really love it. THEN i had to go get myself in trouble again and now the only answer to 3 kids under 2 is a GASP mini van which we will be leasing, bc i refuse to accept that this is my destiny for life.
But i cant lie, i am looking fwd to the automatic doors !! (anything to make my life .000002% easier!

I have a 3 year old DS and twins on the way. We have a Dodge Caravan minivan with a DVD player. Yes it makes my life a lot easier, the remote opening sliding doors, the 3 rows, all the extra space.

I'm pushing to go back into an SUV once our lease is up. But DH isn't having it. He wants to lease another mini van for 3 more years and then we can *discuss* an SUV. I'm really hoping I win and we can kiss the mini van goodbye come April 2014
