If they get sent home early by the nurse....

Is it considered a day absent?

I don't think so - as long as they were there at the beginning of the day they should be considered present.

Nope! As long as they are there for a few minutes, they are not considered absent!

No, but for legal attendance purposes it is recorded what time the child was sent home and documented on their attendance record.

On the elementary level, many teachers have to record students present every time they teach another subject/lesson. For example, if a student misses too much instructional time during a certain subject due to doc. appt's, etc. then even partial day attendance can be an issue. This is a new component of the new NYS evaluation system for both teachers and students.

Thanks...it was only once and it was after 2:30. (School is dismissed at 3:25) So I am not worried about TOO much missed. Just wanted to know how it would effect his attendance record.
