Looking for some BTDT advice from Moms of Girls use of potty

She is potty trained of course, but I am having issues getting her to wipe herself.

She just looks at me and says she "Can't" and of course my aunt and hubby cater to her and always wipe. Shame is, so do I. Chat Icon

Well next year she's going to the 'big school'. AKA Kindergarten. So now I'm trying to 'train' her to take care of herself in the bathroom.

I think she needs encouragement, consistency and accountability.

She takes care of herself at school now (but never does #2 at school). She KNOWS what to do, just doesn't do it at home or auntie's.

This morning we talked about the big school and big girl and so she went, took the paper off, wrapped it around her hand, wiped her front then back, put it in the toilet, up with her panties up with her slacks, off her stool, flush then push the stool to wash her hands.

I think she did very well and I encouraged her the whole time (id RATHER she didn't wipe her butt with the same paper, but how do I say that). Gave her high five after she washed and dried her hands.

How do I make this consistent? She RARELY uses the bathroom at home. Just to poo once at night generally. She 'may' go pee one more time and thats it.

Any tips?

sounds to me like she did a great job. I would just keep doing what you did today. I mean the whole different paper thing I think might confuse her or discourage her .. as long as she wipes front to back.

why does she not use your bathroom ? She doesn't go at home really?

She just doesn't go. Doesn't need to. I can ask a million times but she doesn't need to pee. But when she needs to go she will go. I don't know. Maybe she inherited my bladder. I can go all day and never use the bathroom as well. When I was younger, I'd go before I went to school then not again until I got home around 5 or so.

Unless of course I'm drinking dr. pepper or tea then I gotta go. LOL!

She gets home around 5:30-6pm and lately has been in bed by 9pm (i know miracle for my night owl) so in those 3hours she doesn't use the bathroom unless she has to poo. Then in the mornings she won't pee either. Just gets up (dressed), brushes her teeth, gets her hair done and off to school.

*shrug* We always ask.. but she just doesn't go. I see her dance sometimes and push it but she says no then maybe THEN she'll go finally.

ETA: I asked school and she goes at least once or maybe twice there. And they don't go in the bathroom with her (its in the room) so I hope she's gotten her routine from that!

Hard to practice something she doesn't do at home. Chat Icon

So where is she going # 2 i am confused sorry... If at home one time a day I think that is fine. I think she will be ok with you showing her the one time or anytime she does it at home( i am just thinking since she is already potty trained)
