will i need a double stroller?

my DD will be exactly two when the baby comes. should i get a double stroller? my DD is now 19 months and doesnt really use her stroller that much anymore, but im thinking maybe it is a good thing to have when i want to corral her. thanks!

Mine are 25 months apart and we used a double stroller for a year. I loved the peg because it had a stand up ledge for when ds was four.

My first 2 are 15 months apart and at 2 I started using a sit-n-stand. I was still able to buckle him in, at least in the Baby Trend I had. He was never a stroller baby and he really liked sitting in front of me.
I think I would go straight to that. If she was a stroller kid (My middle loved the stroller) then I would say yes, get a double.

We bought a double, our boys are 22 months apart. Now are are 3 and 1 and we still always bring it when we go out to places with both of them. There are definitely times when our 3yo will get out and walk or to go see something up close, but for the most part, he loves riding in the stroller.

DS will be just about 3 when DD arrives. He will still sit in a stroller so I knew we definitely needed a double stroller, but the hardest part was picking the right one! We just went to Buy Buy Baby today to see them in person and wound up picking the Graco Ready2Grow sit and stand stroller. Some of these doubles are sooo freakin expensive! This one was a good price and although a lot of reviews I read said the front part was so small for the older child, my DS is a peanut and fit fine and loved the standing option. Plus he wont be in the front part once DD is old enough to switch spots. Definitely recommend taking your DC to the store and testing them out!

We actually bought a brand-new double when DD was 2 and DS was 3.5, we needed it for traveling, trips to the mall, and walks around the neighborhood. It's much easier to have a double stroller when you have 2, if I brought my single, DS would complain that his legs were tired and he wanted to sit too

Plus, not so easy to chase a toddler when you have the baby in a stroller!

I'd wait and see. My DD was 26 months when DS was born and I prob have used my double 6 times. I wish I waited bc those times I had it were useful but to only have used it that many times is annoying! They ain't cheap so you may want to see what happens before you purchase one!

Yes. DS was 18 months when DD was born. When he was 2, we were in the middle of summer and using the stroller a lot. I thought the same about not needing a double, but with a baby you can't pick up the older one! It's a necessity if you want to go anywhere with the kids in your own. Now that DS is 2.5, we can get by with a single stroller and walk/ carry the other child.

Try a less $ double. I got the joovy. Good for malls and parks.

Absolutely! My kids are exactly 2 years apart. We could not live without the double stroller. We need it more to transport the kids without them wandering. I find it especially useful at the airport, mall, and theme parks.

DH and I like to take the boys on stroller walks when the weather is nice. It is soothing for the whole family.

When DS#2 was an infant, I would take the boys on stroller walks when the boys would fight me on naps. One or both kids would fall asleep. I could not live without it!

eta: I also think it depends on where you live and your lifestyle. We used to live in Manhattan and then lived in a townhouse in a highly congested area. We used the stroller daily because we were mostly pedestrians. Now we live in the suburbs in a single family house where we cannot walk anywhere. We pretty much use the double stroller exclusively for vacations and the mall. If you plan to go to places like Disney World, I think it is a must but you can always rent one.

My girls were 14 months apart and I never really used one. I had one that I sold when DD#2 was just 2 or 3 months old. The few times i wanted to put my oldest in the stroller i would wear my youngest. way easier then pushing around the double stroller. My DS is 22 months now and hardly uses a stroller now.

I was anti double stroller. DC #2 never really was a fan of being in the stroller so I thought it wouldn't be a problem....

When DC #3 was around 6 months old I caved and finally bought a double. Best thing ever. I got so much use out of it. DC #2 magically started wanting to sit in it when she would see the baby in it.

Now they both don't want to stay in it for long periods of time but its convenient for the mall, walks to the park, and theme park type places.
