No one seemed to mention that all that you pay for daycare because you ladies work is TAX DEDUCTIBLE so you will get some of that money back. If you are a SAHM and want to send your child to pre school like I did because my son needed some extra help I was told it was not tax deductible.
I have to say I really don't feel sorry for you...
Not looking for you to. I feel that in the end I am lucky to home with them. Yes there are rough days but we own our home, can pay our bills etc.

Sorry, I hit send accidentally. She has made comments on other daycare threads that make this one come across as rude. Yes, its a nice benefit but it doesn't substantially change the amount I pay each year.
Right, I saw. However, there is nothing at all snotty, snarky, rude, or anything of the sort in her response.
Really? her putting TAX DEDUCTIBLE in caps (which on the internet is YELLING) isn't rude? Did you see her other post on this thread or her many posts are other threads where she rips into mothers looking for help and guidance and advises them on their finances and how to live their lives? If you had seen those posts I doubt you would defend her so much.
You know what ... have a nice evening ladies. I recommended a website to one woman looking for childcare etc and then made a comment that might have been the cold hard truth. Caps ...come on ...sometimes people overlook things in posts like one woman was looking for childcare in Bellmore/East Meadow and someone in response recommends a place in Old Westbury... ummmm. Goodnight... and don't forget to flame me again after I leave because this is nonsense. BargainMama ... thank you for your support in my earlier statement.

ITA...also, I took her comment as to say, "Stop complaining because you get back the money anyway" This is one of the reasons why internet sux...because sometimes you read something one way when it was intended another way.

Why are you people jumping down her throat? It appears she was trying to be HELPFUL. Many new parents aren't even aware childcare is tax deductible.
The caps were obnoxious and then the complaining that she is a SAHM and can't use it. I mentioned that if I didn't work, I would be in a much lower tax bracket anyway so I would pay less taxes above and beyond what this deduction gives me, which defeats her sahm's can't use the deduction argument. Or course I received no reply to that.

See now I don't see the SAHM part as complaining at all. Several times on here I've read that a SAHM thinks she can claim pre-school. I think she was just pointing it out.
It's obvious that when you already don't care for someone, ANYTHING they say is going to ruffle your feathers. Good intentions or not I digress though

I dont know if you saw her other post on this thread where she says " Gosh, just trying to say that getting back something is better than getting back nothing. If you don't think your refund is a big deal then send it to me ... the one not working. I'm not saying you ladies are paying chump change but you do want a quality person/people caring for your child. If you want good care, then you have to pay. It must be tough, especially for those are single parents or ladies who have to work because there spouse's job does not provide benefits. I did explore child care centers and got prices, spoke to people two years ago. I am home with my children and in the end is a great thing. As long as DH and I can get by in a way we feel we need to and provide for our children having me home the right thing. I will never get this time back with them and will always be able to make more money when they get older. I got my degrees, worked and now spending time with my young children.''
If you do not find this obnoxious then you have a much higher tolerance than I do.
This woman consistently comes on threads that are meant for working mom and in a round about or sometimes NOT so roundabout way insults working mothers and throws digs about 'sacraficing" and "making it work bc they are only young once". I was home with my son last year and I NEVER would have posted something like that on a thread, in fact I didnt comment on threads asking for working mother advice bc I wasn't a working mother.
I don't like know it all bitchess and she is one and I will call her out everytimes she posts something nasty bc I really have nothing better to do

seriously? i saw your other post as well and to be honest seems like you have some hang up on working moms. perhaps you really aren't as happy as you claim to be giving up your career and staying home? Either way, your judgemental opinions are not helpful - keep them to yourself!

Not at all, at first it was hard adjusting but over time and talking to a relative's daughter who told me a child calls the daycare provider "Mommy" I felt better. As mentioned, my children will not be young for long and I get to do things that I could not if I was working. Sometimes day care can be a great thing for socialization, not knocking it. It boils down to whatever works for your family and whatever you choose. I'm not going to respond any longer because people seem to be getting out of control here.

Unless I am reading this wrong, it is comments like these that can stab us working moms in the heart. Most of us don't CHOOSE to work. We have NO CHOICE.

I agree. I thought you were done with this board???
I would like to thank the other posters who said what I was trying to say more eloquently.
We can all agree that we all make choices as to what we feel is best for our children, in this case either working or staying at home. We don't need to make little digs at each other to make us feel bad about the choices we make (especially when many times those choices are the only option).

I agree...
I'm a SAHM and would never ever ever think to even say something like that...regardless of the fact i doubt thats true...I don't know any kids in daycare that call their teachers "mommy".
That is a total stab in the heart to a working mom, and I just don't get it. it's MEAN. I give all the credit in the world to working mothers. They are doing so much good for their families..we all have things we'd like to be a bit different in our lives but in the end all the women on these boards seem to want the BEST for their kids...why the blatantly mean words?

That is so so obnoxious and ridiculous that I can't help but laugh. My child has called her father, grandmother, and half of the people at the playground "mommy" at some point or another. But when I walk in the door from work...I'm pretty sure by the welcome I get that she knows just who Mommy is.

Wow. I'm a SAHM (although evidently a happier one than Ann ), and honestly that was a low blow to working moms.
Look, we are all entitled to our philosophies and values-- I stay home with my kids and I do think my kids are better off for it. But not everyone is going to agree with me. I also send my kids to Catholic school and I think they're better off for it, and I KNOW most people aren't going to agree with me on that one
Just saying that you can have an opinion and confidently own your opinion without slinging mud at the other side, kwim?
When the mudslinging starts, the insecurity shows.

Why?
I could make a list stating why I think my kids' lives have been better off with me staying home. Similarly, I'm sure you and many other working moms could make a list stating why your kids' lives are better due to you working.
We all know what's best for our families, taking into account our individual circumstances. Why should my choices make you feel "hurt", or vice versa? We are different people with different lives, kwim?

get a life Ann, get a life. You in no way are making me feel bad about my decision. You know why? I am happy! I choose to work. I love my DS to death and he knows it. I in no way am worried he doesn't know "mommy" he knows damn well who mommy is! that statement is ridiculous and just shows your true colors.
Plus i have all that extra tax deductible money to roll around in or go on a shopping spree so life is great!
