They said we would hopefully have the culture results back Monday but they still are not in. Hopefully tomorrow....
At this point, he will definitely need at least 2-3 inches amputated but they cannot go ahead with the surgery until the results from the culture is back. They want to confirm it's not infected with some odd bacteria and that he'e being treated with the right antibiotic. The vet said he expects it to be fine but they need to confirm.
In the meantime, I just want this behind us already. I know in so many ways animals are lucky to not know what's going on a lot of the time if something is bad - but in this case I wish I could go to him and be like .. "Listen, I love you, you'll get over this, your tail will be shorter but you'll be running around and be good as new soon"
 Poor guy.. I just want him to know he's loved and he will be fine very soon. At least the loved part, I'm pretty sure he knows!
I'll update when we get the culture results back and we get the word they can go ahead with the surgery. I just wish it was done already.

They do understand!!! I talk to my baby all the time! Linus looks me in the eye and listens to every word I say! I swear if he could form the words he would. I've even said, "Linus come give your brother a kiss." and he walks over and licks my belly!!! I swear!!! So talk to him, tell him he'll be okay, he's listening!!!

Thank you ladies!! We just got the call, the results came back fine and he's going in for surgery tomorrow. We get to take him home tomorrow night!!! He will take anywhere from 10 days to 4wks to recover and have to wear a cone and be isolated from his brothers and sisters in our guest room... But he will be HOME and I can't wait to have him back with us!!!!!!!!! I'll update tomorrow after surgery.

Thanks for checking in!!! Finn's surgery went great!!! He's back home now and I don't think ANY cat has EVER been this happy!!!! 
My dh went to pick him up and as soon as Finn laid eyes on him he spun around in circles and got SOOO excited!!!
So far his tail is healing great! Hopefully if things continue this way he can get the cone removed by next weekend and get back to his normal routine running around the house (he still needs to stay isolated from the others while he has the cone so they don't bother his tail while he heals).

Wellllll Cody has been sitting by the door ... Ben hasn't acted ANY different .. like AT ALL   (those are his two buddies) and Penny, who really only likes Ben, has been hissing at the other two because she just hates change and she's blaming them. 
It's a crazy house!!

Just saw this. Happy to hear that things went well and the little guy is home. Hoping things continue to go well, and as others said I am sure he knows how much he is loved, I am more than positive you tell him all the time.
