INFURIATED! Reality TV always has adults and kids NOT wearing seat belts.
I have noticed, for a long time, that people on reality TV don’t wear their seat belts, or dont wear them properly.
I was watching an episode of "Cheer Perfection" where they were all going to St Louis in their respective cars.
The one mom was whining "It’s hot, its uncomfortable, I don’t like it" (about the seat belt. The next shot is her having the shoulder belt behind her.
What is SO much worse is that same "next shot" shows her 11 year old doing the same thing.
In the other car (the other family going) shows the same thing. Both the mom and the daughter not using the seat belt correctly.
It makes me sick to think that if they get into an accident they can die. Or worse, their children can die because THEY were stupid.
But I guess the seat belt is too uncomfortable. That’s a great excuse, and a great thing to teach your children.
And this is show, after show, after show....

DH became one of those certified car seat experts - to install and check them. Ever since then, he's so aware of incidents like you wrote above on TV, or strangers in a parking lot.

Ive noticed this on lots of shows. Not just reality shows. We make a game of seeing who is and isnt wearing their seat belt. Even AJ joins in.. shaking her head "they aren't wearing their seat belt right"
Actually I've noticed more and more that TV in general shows livestyles I disagree with. lots of video gaming, back talking, non seat belt wearing, whiny kids.

Is it an out of NY Metro area thing? I swear my family in the south is all like that and the kids- with my parents wearing a seat belt was not a choice- it was do it or "get it"

So true! After that class, we realized our own car seats were incorrectly set up. It kind of scarred dh. He has since advised many of our friends and kindly helped them in a non judgey way. It's better to know that not know. One of our friends had their 6 month old forward facing. Dh helped them out.

I think the statistic is 80 to 85% of americans dont have their children in car seats correctly.
And, as far as a PP is concerned, I DO think its a southern thing. "Cheer" is in Alabama.

I think parents should have to take a class on this. I've been on mom Facebook groups where they want to put a one yr old in a booster seat.

Meh.. I know some fairly die hard seat belt wearers here. We dont take it lightly at all. We have one lady in my office (from the midwest) who refuses to wear it. Says she's hurting no one. drives me crazy!
Seat belts are a way of life. Its what you say.. Do this blah blah.. "Its like putting on your seatbelt, you just DO it"

Parents who choose to put their children on 'reality tv' obviously don't have their childrens' best intentions in mind as it is.
Sad that they put them into even more danger by not wearing seatbelts.

What else I have noticed- when you see the these people in their cars they are always on their cell phones. Not hands free. Phone up to their ear. It pisses me off every time see one of them doing this.

question though, is it a law in every state that you have to wear a seat belt and the hands free cell phones
if its not that would also explain it, not that i agree with it and it certainly doesn't explain the children aspect of it
