For full time working moms, how much do you pay for nanny cost each month.

Re: Nanny Cost
We're in the process of hiring a nanny, and will be paying roughly 2800 a month for 50 hour weeks. We also have to include 2 wks vacation, 9 holidays and a metro card.

Wow! This seems insanely high I know you are in the city, which ups the cost factor but child care costs are really sobering. I come on this board to get ideas of what things will be like in the near future now that I'm preggers, but sometimes I just get more freaked out.

Re: Nanny Cost
$14 might be average for the city but its lower on LI, my nanny gets 12 an hour and thats on the high end for LI, at least for the nannies in my area. I know a few people who pay 10 an hour,

Re: Nanny Cost
$14 an hour - and I pay her a 40 hour week regardless of what she works (sometimes 50, sometimes 30).
She gets vacation and sick days - and she cleans and does laundry.
She's worth every penny! So grateful that we found her...
ETA - she brings her own food, generally speaking. She also sometimes brings food for DS if I don't have time to pick up fresh fruit for him.

Re: Nanny Cost
We are not going the nanny route, but I do know from friends' experience that most of them do expect you to also have their meals provided for the meals that fall when they will be there (i.e. lunch, possibly breakfast). I know my friend spent a fortune on coldcuts and snacks each week. Several friends ultimately went the au pair route.

Re: Nanny Cost
When I was researching nannies, the going rate seemed to be $600 a week. Full-time, 40-45 hours.
