Low hemoglobin/no iron in blood?
My hemoglobin is 8.6. I went to hematologist and they did an iron analysis. I called today, and the man who give the results told me that there was no iron in my blood, and that I will need IV iron. I asked what that means, and he said it means there is no iron in your blood??? I am so confused, how could that possibly be? He def said No, not low?
Any ideas?
Also, if you have had IV iron, what is the process like?
Thanks!

Re: Low hemoglobin/no iron in blood?
I have a similar issue due to an operation I had on my pancreas. I receive iron (Venofer) intravenously, for six years now. It takes a few hours & my only real side effect are migraines, for which I have meds. My hematologist is Dr Craig DeVoe at Monter Cancer Center located across the street from LIJ. You get used to it, it becomes a way of life & the benefit is you feel great in a day or 2. You need to get down to the reason WHY you are not absorbing & retaining iron from your daily diet like most ppl do. Good Luck
