Shoes for a new walker
DS 2 started to walk over the weekend and I was wondering if you could recommend a shoe for him? I know it's too early for walking shoes but, since it's winter and his favorite activity is removing his socks, I like to keep something on his feet.
Currently - he wears Robeez but, he is slipping on our hardwood floors since they have soft bottoms.
Thanks!

Re: Shoes for a new walker
We just bought DS a pair at Stride Rite. He began walking on 2/13/13, 2 days before his birthday. When we are home, he walks barefoot. If we got out and I know he will be walking all around, I put his stride rites on.

As above, barefoot or Stride Rite.

Re: Shoes for a new walker
When DD started walking I bought her the Stride Rite Step 2 Shoes for Early Walkers .
I loved them because they were light and flexible.
ETA: At home, she was always barefoot.

Re: Shoes for a new walker
barefoot definitely best! personally, wouldnt spend the money on stride rite unless they were walking- I'd just pick up a cheapo pair at payless or target

This. We bought a cheepo pair at BRU. In the house he was always barefoot or socks. Even though its winter our house never gets that cold.

Shoes for a new walker
Thanks everyone!
I looked at Payless today (since there is one by my office) but, they didn't have anything in his size.
Our floors are cold so I like to put something on his feet in the house. I am drawing a blank on what we did for DS 1...

Re: Shoes for a new walker
I would definitly get shoes fromStride Rite, Naturino or my favorite Primiggi they are imported from italy. They have nicer styles and have great support.

I wanted to get something cheap for DD bc she's only cruising at this point and won't wear them often. I saw a cute pair at payless but they didn't have her size. The sales girl gave me a print out of the closest stores with her size in stock and it included a $4 off coupon for that specific pair and size. I ended up with cute, comfy sneakers for $10!

That's good to know! I will try to stop in on my way home tonight.
I don't want to spend a ton for this stage either- DS 1 was in stage 3 Stride Rite after walking for a month. I just don't want him to slip.

Shoes for a new walker
Barefoot is best, but for sneakers for the outside I say stride rite. I know the sneakers can get expensive, but try a stride rite outlet. It was about 40% cheaper than the regular stride rite store. We went to the one in New Hyde Park, but I know there is also one at the Deer Park outlets. Happy shopping!

I got them stride rite when they started walking. My absolute favorite shoes are see kai run and they are much easier to find on sale.
