Re: Eczema moms

My son's case was pretty bad--almost from birth really. We tried stuff my ped had given us, then at 4 months we moved to a dermatologist. Meanwhile, I was trying every single over the counter remedy people--and even random strangers--recommended. Eventually (especially because I was dissatisfied with the dermatologist), I switched doctors and started from scratch.

He had several infected spots for which he had to take oral antibiotics. Then we started on a regimen of much stronger steroids decreasing in strength every two weeks or so. This was last spring when he was around 18 months. It's like he was cured and now I use nothing stronger than Cerave cream after baths.

Honestly though, he wasn't bothered by it at all (until it became infected) and it was more cosmetic than anything else. So I think you really need to ask your doctor if something stronger is advisable at his very young age.

My daughter had horrible eczema from 2 months of age. She itched horribly, i could never leave her bare skinned. When she was about 6 months I figured out she was allergic to corn, but it was a delayed food allergy. Once i switched to a diff formula that was corn free the eczema and her other symptoms (colic, diaper rash, spit up etc) stopped.

Thank you both so much!
Yeah, ds spits up a lot also.
So there's corn in the formula? I'm laying down for 5 minutes or I would go look. Rough day.

I as an adult still get eczema. I had bad as a child on body. Now it only comes on my right hand. The good thing is that the heat usually kills it so you will see it go away. It unfortunetly returns in the winter almost always without fail
