Moms of babies who had eczema, how often do you put medicine on?

DS had horrible eczema as an infant. Now at 14m, his eczema is almost all gone but on the back of his ears and hands. He is always itching his hands and scratches the heck out of his ears at night.

I want to stop putting steroid med on him.

Ped dermatologist says it's ok to put it on in moderation.

Just curious how often other moms used medicine and for how long.

When DS had his eczema I put the cream on very thinly until it was gone...but it went away in less than a week and I was able to maintain with moisturizer (Mustela Stelatopia). I'd only put it on after that if he had a flare up.

I try not to use it everyday because I know someone that told me her daughter lost the pigmentation in her face where they would put the cream. I can usually tell if she is going to have a flare up and I use it for a few days until its gone

I put on when needed and its usually when it flares up bad!

She gets it behind knees and elbow crease (the other side).

I try to use a medicated lotion in between to help it not be cracked and dry.

DS has eczema and we have 3 different creams for his eczema we use them 2 times a day until his flares are clear but we have been chasing his flares since a newborn
