Question about miscarriage
I'm having a D&C tomorrow - can someone explain what to expect and when I can start TTC again? I am trying to search things but just feeling super out of it and upset.

Re: Question about miscarriage
I had a D&C 4 years ago - it was my first pregnancy.
The procedure was painless (phyiscally) but I was unfortunate and got an infection following it, however that is very rare so please don't stress about that (just be aware that if you feel pain more than cramping or have a fever, that isn't normal, so call your doc). Again, this is rare, so I don't mean to worry or scare you.
My best friend had a D&C recently and her recovery was fast - she was tired and crampy but felt "back to normal" (again, physically) within a week.
As for TTC, I was told to wait until i had a normal period. Emotionally I thought I wasn't ready to start trying again but got pregnant on my second cycle post-D&C. It was a surprise and I was very nervous but I have a beautiful daughter now.
I know it is so hard - emotionally and physically - I will be thinking of you.

Re: Question about miscarriage
I just had a D&C in Dec. after a loss at 12 weeks. The surgery was quick and pretty painless. There was heavy bleeding for a few days but got better. I was just sore for like a day. I took the day after D&C off and then went back to work. The emotional recovery is much harder!
My OB also said to wait for a period before TTC again. We are actively trying now. Hopefully it'll happen again soon.

Re: Question about miscarriage
First, I am so sorry.
I had a D&C, but it wasn't for a loss. I can only speak to the procedure. I had some cramping the next day, and was generally fine the following day and back to normal within a week. It was really short and I was home within 3 hours of heading to the hospital. I was also told to wait one full cycle before TTC, but every Dr. is different.
I imagine the emotional part is will be worse than the physical. Sorry for your loss.

Re: Question about miscarriage
my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage, I had the D&C. I was asleep for it (thank god) I didn't have any immediate pains from it but after the meds wore off I did have cramps. The first two days weren't bad but by the 3rd day after I was bleeding heavily (and back to work, which I don't recommend going back so soon if you can avoid it) If I remember correctly I bled for almost 1.5- 2 weeks. I was told to wait 6 weeks before DTD again.
The emotions I was going through far outweighed any physical cramps. Allow yourself to go through whatever you need to go through before going back to work. Otherwise you may need to excuse yourself when feelings overcome you while at work.

Re: Question about miscarriage
I had one in 2009 with my first pregnancy. They put me to sleep and felt nothing, a little cramps the day and the after the procedure.
It was more emotional than physical pain. We waited a month before ttc again.

Question about miscarriage
I had one last August. A bit of cramping afterwards. Lots of bleeding. A lot. But as it's been stated, the emotionally aspect was much harder on me than anything else. The grief hit me the day after. And there's the hormonal fluctuations to consider as well. I was raging one minute, and crying the next. I took an as-needed anxiety med because i just could not pull it together on my own.
so sorry for your loss :(
