I'm looking for a new bank. Can you reccomend one? Who should I stay away from? What's the min you need to keep in you account? Any other hidden fees?
We currently have chase and I hate them!

Re: banks
I have TD but I've been wanting to change over to a credit union for awhile.
Checking is minimum $100 and I never am below a few hundred in my account, but a few times lately I've had mysterious charges where they've insisted I have been under $100.

This, being lazy about changing over all my online stuff and DH is what is keeping me there for now.
We also went there they other day to get some stuff notarized, no one was in there waiting, and they didn't charge us.

Re: banks
I have Capital One, and this bank provides me with a lovely array of issues.
I'd say the website breaks down at least once every other week. MULTIPLE times my debit card has failed to work when I've gone to make a purchase despite the fact that plenty of money was in the account.
Twice, the due date of my credit card has randomly changed. One time I caught it. The other time, I wound up paying late.
Also...if you frequent Greenport...the Capital One ATM is broken every last time I go there.

Capital One 360 (used to be ing direct)
NO FEES
I have a savings and a checking with them. I earn interest and there are no overdraft fees. If I overdraw my account I am charged a small interest fee on the amount I overdraw. Last month I overdrew by a few hundred and paid 11 cents
The only drawback is there are no branches - everything is done online, which is not a problem for me. I just take a picture of the check with my phone and it gets deposited.
We have an account with td bank just to have something local in case we need to get to a branch. The td account is connected to my ing account so I can transfer money back and forth as needed

For a checking/savings account, I never had any bad issues with Bank of America. Always really great to me.

Bank of America stole 4000 from me and it took months of daily calls to get them to return it. They finally did four months later when I delt with the eastern regional president, but it never should have taken that long. I cannot recommend them.

I have the same accounts. I have never really used the checking.
I just called for them to send me a new debit card and am going to try it out and see how it works.
How are they in terms of clearing your check from deposit?
The guy said it usually goes through within 2 business days.

Anytime I've taken a photo of the check for depositing it was cleared the next day

Re: banks
I bank with Bank of America and Bethpage. No problems with either. I've been with BoA for a loooooooooooooooooong time.
DH refuses to move his accounts from Chase.

Re: banks
DH and I both have Chase. I LOVE Chase and had them since they were WAMU.
Plan to keep keep them.
We have a savings account with TD. I don't do banking with them, but they require a phone call a day or a few hours ahead if the withdrawl is over $3K which I don't like. (God forbid an emergency).
We will be opening another savings account with a credit union next week or the beginning of April.
I heard Citibank is good, and has good perks. We might check it out as well.

Most banks now have it. Most accounts are supported by Iphones and Android phones. But the banks require you to setup a new account to use this feature.

Not with BOA. I just needed to download their app and log into my BOA account.

Re: banks
I had Chase.
I switched to Citibank because they offered me $300 and a free CitiGold account.. how could I turn it down???
But I don't like them all that much. Chase was so much better with payments and online functionality.
If/when I switch again.. it will be to TFCU. I'd rather be with a credit union than a big bank.
